Want a juicy, satisfying way to stay cool and full simultaneously? Eat watermelon! Cut it up in chunks and eat it fresh or freeze it. Ummm .... delicious, filling - a low-calorie way to stay full longer, which means you'll eat less of the fattening foods. And if you've hit a weight-loss plateau, let watermelon catapault you over the edge! Enjoy!

OK now.  Let's compromise.  I really don't fancy the hideousness of watermelon but can I have a watermelon mold made of smooth and soothing dark chocolate?  Can we shake on that one?  Pleeeeaase!!! smile

Watermelon sandwiches Qwark - on white bread? Now that's different - and since I'm the adventurous type - I'm willing to give it a go. But I must admit - with all that juice mixed with the white bread, sounds like I'm gonna have a doughy mess! smile

Watermelon is great, I am growing 2 watermelon plants in my garden and I made a watermelon and berry smoothie a few days ago because it was 100 degrees outside.  Watermelon is very healthy and is good for weight loss.

I had to laugh when I read this~I'm knee deep in everything watermelon right now as we're gearing up for our county's annual Watermelon Festival!  It's the country's oldest, longest-running watermelon festival (not to mention the biggest thing that happens in our county all year long!).  For the whole month of June the county becomes all about watermelons....clothing, crafts, carving contests, poker runs, pageants, parades, tasting contests, and more!

Give me a couple of weeks and I'll post some up here.  Official kickoff is the 19th but some prelim stuff happens on the 12th.  The final day culminates with the parade on the 26th-that will be the best day for pictures!

I just finished eating some about an hour ago. We buy a seedless watermelon and my husband uses an ice cream scooper and fills up usually 2 big bowels.  Then I just get a fork and a smaller bowl and I don't have to do any cutting.  I have arthritis in my hands so he just does this for me because he is a special guy.

    1. purpleangel47 profile image60
purpleangel47posted 13 years agoin reply to this

Sounds deeeeeelicious Pamela99! I prefer the seedless too ... when I was younger my Dad used to say that if I swallowed  the seeds, I'd grow a watermelon inside me! Thanks Dad! smile
Kudos to your special guy - that's an excellent idea. Where's my icecream scoop? smile

Watermellon is my new food. I thought I purachased two cantaloupes yesterday-but when I cut them they were green inside. There is a new mix of mellons. A cantaloup and a honeydew looks like a cantaloup on the outside and a honeydew on the inside. Try it.
