One of the easiest ways to get pregnant is by knowing the time period of ovulation that is part of your menstrual cycle.   Ovulation is the time when a mature ovum (or egg) is released in the uterus following a rise in the levels of Luteinizing Hormone (LH).  For a normal twenty eight-day cycle, this usually falls on the fourteenth day. For those who have a menstrual cycle other than the twenty-eight day series, divide the actual number of days in your cycle by two and then add in an allowance of one to two days to arrive at an estimated day of ovulation.  This is not an exact science however and the calculation doesn’t hold true for all women.

    Take your wedding ring off.

No, seriously. Hubby and I tried for a few months. Circumstances changed and I went back on the pill. Then I skipped a couple coz I hadn't refilled the prescription - bam I fell pregnant straight away. If you WANT to get pregnant it's less likely to happen!

And as for preparation. Try setting an alarm for 10pm, midnight, 2am, 4am and 6am. Each time it goes off, run around the house three times, balancing a wiggling object such as a pet dog and make a bottle at the same time.

Other fun ways to prepare including squirting peanut butter onto various outfits that are dry clean only followed by curdled milk. Some on the carpet as well as the walls is also a great idea.

    Have fun!

If she's not yet pregnant, it is a really good idea to start taking folic acid tablets. They can help prevent spina bifida.

Wow - how weird are you guys !!!    My advice is to just forget it all, do what comes naturally as often as the urge takes you and get on with enjoying all those things that you ain't gonna be doing after you do get pregnant between you:)

I think one of the best preparations is by making sure your health is up to standard as much as possible. That way during pregnancy there will be no problems. Get fit, eat lots of fiber, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and make sure you are getting enough iron in the diet.

Your comment is just is so correct. After my first baby i added lot of weight and had a problems when i was ready for the second one.Really i had to change my diet, burn fat by engaging in fitness excercises.I did that for three months on the fourth month i was pregnant.

Take your wife to Las Vegas.  I believed all that crap about what happens in vegas stays in vegas.  It aint true and got my wife pregnant.  Actually I just do what is natural and for all three kids my wife got pregnant first month we decided to have another kid.

Really, for both. I'm 30, my wife is 25, and we're trying to have our first baby. We really don't know what to expect. I mean, we're reading books and asking advice, but really--- the more we get the better.

You learn all you need to know by having the baby. Until then, any advice is legit.

Sleep!  You won't get much of it after the baby comes!  But seriously just follow your instinct and you will be fine.  I'm not sure how long you have been trying but if you have trouble conceiving don't wait too long.  Doctors tell you that if you are under 35 and aren't getting pregnant that you have to wait a year to see a specialist but sometimes it takes 3 months to get in to see those doctors.  My husband and I struggled with fertility issues.  Good luck.  It's the most exciting and rewarding opportunity life has to offer.

Hey i'm expetcing number two in April. How did i prepare for number one? I didn't. luckily my wife had years of service in a childrens nursery so she knew what to do.
However take it one step at a time, get through the birth of a healthy baby, god willing and then worry about your sleepless nights. They aren't that bad, you soon get used to it and are amazed for the first few weeks and jsut stare at the little miracle.
Did you know that initially babies have more father features then mother features in order to bond with pappa?
Another tip, there will come a time when young bambino is crying and crying even though you have fed them, changed them and hugged them:) Perhaps it's colic. Who cares, the crying won't stop, either hand to partner or if on your own place baby safely back in crib/cot and take a few minutes time out. Step into the other room for a few minutes.
A crying baby can be annoying, especially to blokes, women tend to get emotional and protective when they hear a baby cry. Men get annoyed.
Above all though enjoy the adventure and joy of the growing up and the "firsts" absolutely awesome. You may also at these points really appreciate what your own parents did for you and perhaps you should show them more gratitude:)
    Bonne Chance
