Quality Nutrition

Eating pecans in moderation can supply your body with high quality nutrition from the best source, nature. This nut features a rich source of vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant. They also contain folates, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, calcium, copper, iron, zinc, selenium, manganese, magnesium, potassium, fiber, protein, trace amounts of other vitamins and minerals as well as omega fatty acids. One of the most impressive health benefits of this nut is its abundant source of oleic acid, which is the same kind of fatty acid in olive oil. Being so abundant in nutrients, pecans can be a wise addition to diets and provide you with natural lasting energy. Pecans can reward your health with free radical fighting antioxidants as well. The vitamin E content they contain help protect your skin while also improving the appearance and texture.

Helps Weight Management

Pecans make for an excellent healthy snack and can help curb hunger in between meals. The stigma of nuts being high in fat can easily be pushed aside when eaten in moderation. Pecans are a super balanced food and the vitamin and mineral content is in perfect harmony with the good fat content. Clinical studies have actually shown that the consumption of nuts such as pecans may result in managing your weight.

Heart Healthy

More than half of the fats found in pecans are monounsaturated including polyunsaturated, which leaves little saturated fats for consumption. It is highly important to avoid foods high in saturated fats as much as possible. Pecans are great for the heart and are a recommended source of natural good fats. Other sources include fish, varieties of nuts, and vegetable oils. When eating this natural food, you can take comfort in knowing you are nourishing your heart with vital nutrition.

Natural Protein

Pecans and other nuts can be of great benefit for vegetarians as they contain a rich source of natural protein. Having a serving size of 1 oz of pecan halves can supply your body with close to 3 grams of high quality protein as well as energy producing carbohydrates and other vitamins and minerals. Pecans pack a nutritious punch and have a satisfying and hearty taste. They can also be utilized for athletes and body builders who are more interested in proteins from natural sources. Try a handful before a workout with a small serving of fruit. Your body will be at the ready and equipped with endurance for exercise.

How To Include

Pecans don't have to just be eaten by themselves. You can throw some into many entrees, and they can even be added to smoothies for an interesting flavor and texture. I've made smoothies before with vanilla ice cream, cherries, orange juice, ice, vanilla extract, and pecans, and it turned out quite tasty. Try to include them into your diet a few days a week or more if you like. Pecans can be a bit pricey at the grocery stores so it may have to be a nice healthy treat here and there. They have a rich taste and are loaded with vitamins and minerals with your health in mind.
