There is a need being fulfilled by the smoking and because it is a subconscious need you have no logical rational explanation for spending so much time and energy in doing it. Being a subconsciously controlled behaviour you have no conscious control over it. You, my friend, are in the grip of addiction.
If you smoke 20 cigarettes day that means you are spending at least £35 per week, £140 per month and £1680 per year. But that doesn't include all the extra cigarettes smoked at parties etc.
You spend around 3 minutes smoking a cigarette and if you smoke 20 cigarettes a day that would be nearly an hour per day spent devoted to cigarette smoking and that doesn't include the time taken to find a suitable place to do it if you are out. 7 hours per week , 28 hours per month, and a whopping 336 hours per year. This means you spend 14 days of the year smoking.
This gives you an idea of the commitment you have made to your nicotine habit. You can easily calculate that if you have been smoking for the last 10 years then you have probably spent close to £17,000 on cigarettes and have used 140 days of your life doing it. You are burning your money and continue to do so.
The best way to stop smoking is with awareness! I know what I have said may come as a surprise to you but that is exactly what is required. How else can you bring this subconsciously controlled behaviour under your conscious control?
