Dream Focus, Elements and Color Meanings - Part 2
Dream Interpretation 2: Focus, Elements and Color
This is a continuation of Part 1: Spiritual Dream Interpretation and Understanding. As you begin to study dream interpretation, you'll find it's spiritual and full of symbolic meanings (some things or issues can be literal). I recommend the books at the bottom and on finding a christian dream interpreter before taking any action on your own personal interpretation. Many times what you think your dream means is not the real meaning. You will find the dream language is usually metaphorical (symbolic) or a play on words - even fun idioms.
Don't rely on basic books of symbolism, that alone can give a wrong explanation. Rather depend on the Holy Spirit as a guide. Whether it be from the enemy, yourself or a message from God, you want Him (the Holy Spirit) to guide you to the true meaning. Sometimes it's a process, but sometimes the meaning is hidden. Search Him for it. "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; But the glory of kings is to search out a matter." (Proverbs 25:2)
It can take time to get meaning, sometimes it's only partly understood, but more understanding can come with prayer and patience. Basically begin with prayer and the bible as He (God/Holy Spirit) will highlight a word or phrase for insight. Pray through it. You can even pray while your still sleeping, it can change or transform because of prayer or aligning yourself with God's spirit. Seeing things in God's light can change the perspective and outcome.— ideadesigns
Finding the Focus
What is the Focus of your dream?
Many times the focus of a dream will be about you. Unless perhaps you are called to be an intercessor and it may be about people or nations that you pray for. To find the focus, see who (or what) is in the plot. WHO is being impacted in it. If you remove the focus (person or element) will your dream stay together or fall apart? The focus will be the center of the emotional weight. Sometimes there is a secondary focus which will be an element that helps keep the structure together.
Example of Focus:
Focus: I, Me, Myself (emotional weight and plot)
Secondary Focus: House, Building, Car (whatever is helping keep it together)
Elements: other objects, actions, emotion, color (add insight)
Element: component, an abstract part of something
These are the "important" elements that will help bring meaning to a dream. Not everything is a key element, with the Holy Spirit's help you can identify what elements will be important for a final interpretation. If there are bright or strong colors, that's likely a key element or an added detail. Usually the action taking place, or the emotions you feel will play a part and need to be added to your key elements. As you make your list, pray and ask God about each one. It's good to have some knowledge of biblical metaphors (parables) and principles that God uses.
Example: Cow: provision (not always, depends on the context)
When the king had a dream, Joseph discerned a cow to be provision. It depends on the context so it's also important to look at other possible "cow" meanings such as provision, milk (pure, needed for new/baby christians), meat (is a stronger word, for the spiritually mature), heifer (objectionable person), sacrifice, food/sustenance, negative: idol worship. Once you have a good meaning for each element then pray over each and see if the Holy Spirit quickens you. Once you have an somewhat of an understanding, say to God - "This is what I think it means... ".......", What do you say?" This is an important part, not to jump to conclusions without His guidance. That doesn't mean you can't play around with the interpretation.

Should be your next dream book. He is the guru of dream teaching. My all time favorite! "The Biblical Model of Dream interpretation". Teaches how to avoid the pitfalls of a soulish method of interpretation. What is the difference between biblical and all the other methods of interpretation. Fills in all the gaps with this teaching, gives great understanding!
From God, Me or the Enemy?
God/Jesus (Spirit): Color, Bright, Daylight type
My Soul: Normal, Soulish type, Maybe muted color
Enemy: Dark, Muted, Midnight type, Lies
From God is what we should all want. How can you tell if it's from God? One very good indicator is COLOR. God will give dreams in color because he is the creator of all color and He is light. Usually bright colors for example: "it was a blue light" "a green tree" "a yellow shirt" these are clues that God is speaking to you.
From our Soul can have muted colors, but they are from your soul. Soul dreams are not bad, they just need to be submitted to God and prayed through. A busy life or stress can cause one to have many soul dreams. Prayer can change the color and situations of these.
From the Enemy are midnight type setting usually black and white or very dark. Or to put it this way, God allowing you to see the plans of the enemy, so you can pray more specifically. Even some dark, false, fear or warfare dreams is showing what the enemy is doing. One way to change this is to speak scripture over them and pray through it and give God the dream, put it in His hands. As you pray and let it go, just watch how your dreams change! If your still in the dream and you pray, you'll notice how things that are black and white will come into color. As you say the name of Jesus, pray, speak scripture/positively your scary situations begins to change. It's knowing you have God inside you (His power) to overcome the enemy that defeats him every time!
"It was dark..., then there was a red dress." Sometimes while praying in it, you may notice how things that are dark or muted will come into color. Black, dark, muted can have something in color. It can be that part is what God is saying. If it's from the enemy (lies, deceit, stealing peace), but a piece is in COLOR that's likely the part God wants you to pray to happen. God is light and therefore color is important. The dark or muted parts just pray they don't happen. There can also be a mix of "soul" and "spirit" in a dream. Lots of times it depends on whether your soul is ruling, or your spirit is ruling. It's important that you seek God so your spirit continues to grow in edification.

This is a great book to read first. It gives a basic background to some meanings of dreams. What to look for in a dream, what to expect when praying for interpretation and also testimonials by the writers. Written by a loving ministry couple. A small symbol dictionary is in the back to get you started.
Other times, dreams are multilevel. Some have a level of truth in the natural meaning, and a level of truth in the symbolic, spiritual meaning. How do you know if it's multi-leveled? Do a basic interp, then if there seems to be more, pray and see if there's another layer of meaning. Such as, it means 'this' in your family, but also means 'this' for your church/job. As humans we would like easy fast rules that would make it easy for us to figure out. The Lord wants us to meditate and dwell on His Word. Sometimes we understand by His Spirit very soon after waking. It's likely the meaning is hidden, perhaps for you to search and/or possibly to hide it from the enemy, as it's being downloaded to your spirit. Just saying.... instant answers won't encourage us to linger where He is for answers!

Arrows, Guns Meaning
Arrows, Guns: Bitter words, accusation Psalm 64:3; attack of the enemy Proverbs 25:18;
Arrows: can be children Psalm 127:3-5; prayer
If you dream that someone is shooting arrows at you, or guns (our modern day arrows) know that it is possible that someone is speaking bitter words against you. Lets say you get shot, then it ends. It could mean, depending on the context, that the person has been wounded by something. Example: your going to church and you get shot, could be issues about a past or current church member(s) that brought spiritual wounds. If not church, then someone at school or your job, etc.
In Psalm 64: 3 it says, "Who sharpen their tongues like sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows" - bitter words.
This is important to know because the Lord told us in Isaiah 54: 17 that "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment YOU SHALL CONDEMN. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, Says the Lord."
When I have one with an alligator in it, I know to watch out for "malicious" or "spiteful" talk that can be hurtful. Look for clues on whether it will come to naught or more prayerful action is needed. Because an alligator has a BIG mouth and LOTS of cutting teeth and powerful jaws and watch out for their tail end!
Part I of this book goes into God's purpose in dreams and visions. How to hear God's voice through dreams. Part II is understanding dreams and their dynamics. Part III is understanding symbolism such as angels, animals and how to understand God's dream language. Part IV is symbolism and parable language.

Dream within a Dream Meaning
(possible meanings, depends on context)
Interpret the inner dream first.
This is the key to unlocking the outer dream.
Having one inside another usually means "pay attention" as this is something important.
Dreaming that you are Dreaming: Message: A message within a message; aspiration; vision
Dreaming that you are Asleep: Unconscious: Unaware (hidden or covered); ignorant; danger; death; rest; laziness. Oversleep: Late; to miss an appointment; pay attention you're about to miss something (God is about to show you, and/or help you not to miss through prayer).
Front/Back Door Meanings
(possible meanings, depends on context)
Door Open: An opening, an opportunity, Spiritual access, a portal, Vulnerability or Warning
Open Bedroom Door: Lack of boundaries safeguarding your: rest; intimacy with God; intimacy with your spouse
Closed door-- a closed opportunity.
Front Door: could pertain to the future, the present, or warning for the future
Back Door: could pertain to past experience (good or evil); something unresolved from the past; that which is behind (in time: for example, your past sins or the sins of your forefathers); unaware; unsuspecting; hidden; memory; could be demonic influence
Example: If back door is a key element it could mean from the past. It can be saying that a persons present distress is coming from their past. It could reveal the source of a problem. If an evil person comes through a back door it reveals the problem in their actions. Deal with the past so you can be set free. (Read Amos 5:19, Job 13:26 and John 8:32)
Inner Doors: could represent relational boundaries in your personal, family, work or church life
Missing Doors: Our culture is becoming VERY OPEN! Bathroom door missing can be someone is very open about issues, not really wise, healthy or appropriate! Not fun to watch others do business on the toilet.
MORE ON DOORS: Doors in Dreams (http://www.mysteryofdreams.com/?p=645) - As Lisa would say "Sometimes we unintentionally give past issues free access to mess up the present... ...face these issues in His timing and for His purposes only."

Mark Virkler - on Understanding Dreams
Many Cares Result in Restless Dreams
Anxiety or Busy Life
When anxiety and many cares override your peace you might be having dreams from a busy life. Ecclesiastes 5:1-5 speaking "As a dream comes when there are many cares, so the speech of a fool when there are many words." Meaning that you may have many cares, much business and painful effort, which is what causes those dreams. Verse 7 says "For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God." Another version says "Too much activity gives you restless dreams".
Make sure that your life is so not full of business and activity, but rather fear and obey God in your daily activities. Now that's not to say that your dreams aren't significant. There are dreams that tell you about past, present and future issues that many times God just wants to spend time with you in searching out the meaning. He may want you to pray about issues, then leave it alone and watch what happens. If your worried about a dark dream, get a christian interpretation and pray over it and leave it in God's hands. Make sure you speak aloud scripture that relates to your situation. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in your prayer and you'll start to see your dreams changing more towards God's plan and His direction for you.
Dreams should be honored. You will remember more from your dreams if you value them. Quickly get up and start writing.
Spiritual things may be new to you (or not). You won't understand the spirit side with your mind, but you can with God's spirit! Get ready to hear God's voice and come into His kingdom of the supernatural. He gave his one and only son who died on a cross to save us from our sins. We can receive his sacrifice for the forgiving of our sins. Begin with a humble heart and pray this simple prayer (out loud if possible):
"Jesus, come into my life. Forgive me of all my sins. I ask You to cleanse my heart, and make me a new person in You right now. I believe that you are the Son of God and that You died on the cross and was raised from the dead, for me. I thank you, Jesus, for loving me that much, to die for me! I receive you as my Savior and Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen."
1 Now you're born again, you're in the kingdom of God!
2 Get a Bible and read: book of John or Luke and the book of Acts. (Great insight to God's Kingdom within you.)
3 Find a Holy Spirit filled church and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
You can start interpreting your dreams with the Holy Spirit within you as your guide.
"For the natural man is not able to take in the things of the Spirit of God: for they seem foolish to him, and he is not able to have knowledge of them, because such knowledge comes only through the Spirit." 1 Corinthians 2:14
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:31
"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36
"...you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;" Acts 1:8
"...And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Acts 2:21

A little tidbit...
Before you comment, think about the elements or symbols you don't understand. Dreams submitted here can't be interpreted by a "certified" christian interpreter. See the links above! -- I try to give a snippet or insight when I can (if the Lord is leading). If your dream feels important and imminent, then don't hesitate to ask a trusted christian friend to pray for/with you. If no one answers you here, it doesn't mean you should stop seeking for the meaning. God wants you to spend time praying and reading His word as He helps you discover His message for you. Pray about it (as always), but don't take action without God's confirmation and please don't tell your dream to just anyone, just saying... people won't value your dream like you do. God bless and thanks for visiting!
