Vitamin That Prevents Hair Loss

A member of the vitamin B group named Inositol helps in the growth of healthy hair and prevents hair fall. Other functions of inositol in the body are transportation of fat, providing nourishment to the brain cells, lowering cholesterol levels and preventing eczema. Almost 99 per cent of the inositol taken is absorbed by the body. Absorption is slow and it is converted to sugar by the process of catabolism in the kidneys.

For both men and women a daily intake of 1,000 mg of inositol is recommended but for children it should be 550mg.

Symptoms of Deficiency

According to scientists deficiency of inositol can lead to alopecia or patchy baldness, hypertension, gastritis, penetration of fat in the liver, hardening of liver and eczema.

Premature Greying

Among the three anti-grey-hair B group vitamins Inositol is a major one.The other two are panthonic acid and para-aminobenzoic acid (paba).Wheat germ, yeast and liver provides all three of these B group vitamins so if one must include these in one’s diet to get considerable results.

Baldness

Nutritional deficiency is partially considered to be a reason of bald-headedness  in men, the cause of which is lack of inositol. Animals too loose hair due to this vitamin deficiency and when diet includes inositol a healthy layer of hair grows once again..
