Get the Kids Involved in the Process
Want to get your kids involved in the process of planning a kick ass Thanksgiving dinner party? Here are some ideas to get your started:
- Take the kids to the park and have them pick up pinecones, leaves, nuts or any naturish items that would work for fall/Thanksgiving décor.
- Make a simple fall wreath out of a paper plate and different, brightly coloured leaves. Just cut a hole in the middle of the paper plate and glue leaves on the paper ring. Hang it up on your front door.
- Have the kids help you set the table and arrange the centerpiece.
- Pinecones in mason jars are a nice, simple décor idea that the kids can do themselves.
- Have the kids help with placecards. We put name stickers on apples and placed each apple on a plate.
How to Throw the Best Thanksgiving Dinner Party Ever
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, you've got a lot to plan and prepare for all your guests, if you are the one hosting this year. Not only do you want the best, juiciest turkey, but you also want all your food to stand out as unique and delicious dishes that everyone can appreciate. Oh, and you want everything to be beautiful. You do this because you love your friends and family and you want to show them how much you care but mostly you sign up to host Thanksgiving because you want people to validate your culinary and aesthetic abilities.
Don't forget about the big picture. This whole purpose of this feast is to bring family and friends together and to intentionally give thanks for all we have and to take part in a time-honoured tradition.
So where do you start with all the planning? It's best to have a timeline of all the things that need to be accomplished so you're not cramming everything in on the day of the big event. To help you organize yourself a little more, see the organization chart and feel free to add in your own details to the list to personalize it.
