Grandson's and a Birthday Surprise
We all enjoy birthdays and sometimes we can make a fuss over the birthday of our loved ones. There is so much joy in seeing the countenances of children or even an elderly person whose birthday cake has so many candles on top as they attempt to blow all the lit candles out with a single breath and making a wish. Many of you who have read former hubs written by me as Fiddleman and now as Cousin Fudd know I have two grandsons, Colton, soon to be 5 and Maddox, who will be 3 on Halloween. My birthday was this week and they weren't able to come to my house on my birthday because by coincidence their mommy's birthday is the same day as mine, October 25 but yesterday they did come to my house.
When they arrived I wasn't home so they decided to make me a special surprise with the help of Grandma. Since we live in a rural area I always call home when I'm out and about to check and see if anything is needed before coming back home and I could hear the laughter of two small boys. "Is that paw-paw? The enthusiastic joyous voices of two little boys came over the cell phone and I don't mind telling you, it made me happy as they sang to me Happy Birthday. "Hurry home paw-paw!!" Soon I was in the Silverado heading back home knowing there would be two smiling faces to greet me as I pulled into the driveway.
No sooner had I opened the truck door I was met by both the grandsons. Each took a hand as we went to the carport and started into our kitchen. "Close your eyes paw-paw they shouted, "We have a surprise for you!" I closed my eyes but opened them just a little making sure I didn't trip over a monster truck or ball of some kind left scattered on the kitchen floor. They caught me peeping and restated, "Close them eyes paw-paw as they led me to the deck door!" Leading me out they said ,"Look paw-paw!" There on the deck table were several chocolate puddings complete with Cool Whip topping, sprinkles, and Marciano cherries. They had made them especially for me for my birthday. They also had put candles on some brownies left over from the week end. Singing Happy Birthday I lit some of the candles and with their help blew all of them out. While I wasn't looking, Maddy, the youngest, swiped the cherry off my pudding!
The surprise was priceless and a memory for me and hopefully one for them. Puddings are easy to prepare and always a pleasant surprise dessert.
