Celebrate Jesus Birthday on Christmas
Lets celebrate Jesus Birth - shall we!
As the business of the Christmas Season began right after Thanksgiving on Black Friday everyone is out and about shopping and getting ready for the big day. Do most kids even know what it's all about - I began to wonder. It saddens me when I see kids loving the gifts and enjoying the fun and leaving Jesus out, not by their choice but by the choice of the parents.
When my kids were growing up I was just as guilty - we acknowledged prayer and God but we didn't keep him in our home like we should have. Today I now realize that would have made our lives even more fulfilling in so many ways. I have three awesome adult children that I love very much, I know they believe in God and they acknowledge him in their own way. God has blessed me even more with nine grandchildren. As the years have gone by I know that God has forgiven me for not having followed him the way that I should have back in those days, in other words I have stopped beating myself silly over it. I now show my children and grandchildren Jesus every chance I get and remind them just how much God loves them. The awesome story of Jesus birthday never changes, but it's meaning only grows stronger in my heart each and every year. When I think of his goodness and mercy and what he endured during the crucifixion, I cry to God the Father because I cannot imagine what he went through seeing his son suffering on the cross like that.
Christmas is right around the corner, are you ready to celebrate the most precious birthday ever? The birth of baby Jesus is and will always be the most important day in our lives. But in reality we should keep Christmas in our hearts all year long.
My hub is simple - just a few songs and videos that I have had the priviledge of listening to and watching. It delights my heart to see those that acknowledge Jesus out in public, as in the video below of the food court and they all stand up and sing Hallelujah....how awesome is that. What a blessing that would have been to experience first hand.
I also read a very interesting poem "Keeping Christmas" by Henry Van Dyke the other day, and I was so moved, it's so true what he states in this awesome poem. I have the link embedded for you to read. It touched my heart deeply and placed things in perspective, I hope you will read it. I believe as he states in the poem we need to give more of ourselves to others, show more kindness, encouragement, forgiveness and love to our brothers and sisters every chance we get. Always be thankful for what we have, it may not be much but what we do with what we have is what is important, family, friends, our work, and so on. Yes, Christmas is also about those children and grandchildren opening up presents on Christmas day - that warms the heart of anyone, but when Jesus is also in the mix of the celebration - well then it's a party!
Blessings and good cheer to all this Christmas and a Happy New Year!
