Celebrating New Year's Eve in a Unique Way

Unique Ways to Celebrate New Years

For a large percentage of people, a typical New Year celebration includes watching ball drop on the idiot box, going out for an over-priced trip or event or staying in the couch and counting down to 12 o’clock. Although all this can be lot of fun for many, doing this year after year may become tiresome. If you are looking for unique ways to celebrate New Year this time, you can try out some of the following suggestions:

New Year eve is the perfect time to reflect on the year that is just going to pass away. At this time, what can be better than scrapbooking this year’s memories. This can be a fun way to document your holidays and events in a scrapbook. Purchase the necessary supplies beforehand from a photo or craft store, and invite friends and family to rummage through past year’s photo albums. You can also include artwork, journal entries, my favorite lists, photos and souvenirs.

Host a Pajama Party

Invite your family and friends over a slumber party, also known as a pajama party or sleepover. You and your guests will enjoy the carefree and relaxing change of pace, while kids can watch all the adults in their sleepwear. Do not forget to serve comfort foods such as popcorn, pizza and hot chocolate. Award prize to the guest who wears the cutest, coziest and most unique nightwear. Your pajama party can also include playing video games, board games, watching movies, playing pillow fights, enjoying midnight feasts and playing party games like charades, truth or dare, stiff as a board and light as a feather.

Have a Poker Night

With this kind of party, you can gamble away the night without sacrificing your hard-earned money. Ask your guests to trade $20 for the poker chips, so that they do not get tempted to bet their farm at the game. Have something to snack over the table.

Cook Something Unusual

Even if you are cooking just for you and your partner, try out something new that you have never tried to cook before. This will turn the cooking chore into an adventure. Buy a cooking recipe book and find some ultra-yummy inspiration. An example could be going to an Asian market and stocking up some nori, rice, vinegar, sansho and wakame. Then browse through the Internet and see how to make sushi. The one you make may not be as glamorous as you want it to be, but that is not really you are looking for. You just want to have fun on the New Year eve and do something new.

Invite friends over a brunch

This one can be a great idea if you do not want to wake up late till night and to get yourself drunk. Serve casseroles to your guests or make it pot-luck affair for them. Use colorful mocktails in place of alcoholic drinks. What can be a better way to celebrate New Year than meeting people, relaxing, sharing resolutions and exchanging New Year gifts. This will allow you to get connected with people in a fun and casual environment.

These are fun, creative and unique ideas to celebrate New Year this time. Try out some of them and see how much fun you can add to the year’s last eve

I love these ideas! I particularly like the slumber party idea, it's so much better than getting dressed up. I personally hate wearing high heels :)
