I think you said it best, "You must first know and find out his likes and dislikes." That goes both ways, of course. I think many gifts are given in the opposite format-it's what the giver feels the other needs, or the giver wants the recipient to have what they want them to have.

To give something that the other really enjoys takes a bit of sleuthing and observation. Then, it's a matter of what to select.

Wonderful suggestions here, and I don't know one man who wouldn't want a dinner and movie out where he isn't paying for it. UP/U and sharing. :)

@Denise Handlon, Thank you for the wonderful comment and visit. As you said when giving gifts many don't try to understand what the person likes; knowing the taste of the other person is very important to get a gift that is memorable.

This is great! So many people focus on what to give to women, and it is refreshing to see an article on gifts tailored to men. I used to have such a hard time, because men are not typically into pretty or cute things.

For our Valentines, we are going out to eat (before the holiday, so we can enjoy the meal with less crowds), and I'm thinking of buying a bottle of Kahlua or Irish Cream. We like to add it in our coffee for a little extra flavor and kick.

Thank you for sharing your fantastic ideas!

@Kathryn, Thanks for the visit. It is true that many don't concentrate on gifts tailored to men. It is something I wanted to focus on as I think of what to gift to my hubby!
