Easter Songs For Kids

Hop and Stop!!!

Hop and Stop has been in our famly for a long time and has became a family tradition, the adults as well as the children wear bunny ears and tails and become rabbits for a few minutes as they recite this poem.

Hop and Stop

The first litte rabbit went hop, hop, hop

I said to the first rabbit stop, stop, stop!!

The second little rabbit went run, run, run

I said to the second rabbit fun, fun, fun!

The third little rabbit went thump, thump, thump

I said to the third rabbit jump, jump, jump!!

The fourth little rabbit went sniff, sniff, snuff

I said to the fourth rabbit, that is enough!

The fifth little rabbit went creep, creep, creep

I said to the fifth rabbit it is time to sleep!!!

(writer unknown)

It is also a time when after this song  the ears and tails are removed and the little ones actually lay down for a nap and we can enjoy the afternoon.

Five Little Easter Eggs

If you have little ones and many of us do, there are always fun ways of dying easter eggs and teaching them to count in the most colorful way. I have enjoyed this poem and our son enjoyed it and still does although he is now a little older we still get a laugh or two in as he says,"Oh Mom you are being so silly, can we sing another song?"

Five Little Easter Eggs

Five little Easter eggs, lovely colors wore;

(hold up five fingers)

Mother ate the blue, and then there were four.

(bend down one finger)

Three little Easter eggs, before I knew,

Sister ate the yellow one and then there were two.

(bend down next finger)

Two little easter eggs, oh what fun,

Brother ate the purple egg, and then there was one.

(bend down next finger)

One little Easter Egg see me run!

I ate the very last one and then there was none.

(bend down last finger)

Sung to the tune of 10 little indians

Besides eating all of them they will certainly enjoy counting.

I Saw A Little Bunny

When our son was four years old he would swear that he saw the Easter bunny hide his eggs and Easter Basket, so we decided to find a song that fit what he was talking about, and lo and behold another family tradition came alive, he however now becomes a little embarrassed when we sing it, so of course I never tell the little ones that he also loved it to.

I saw a Little Bunny

I saw a little bunny , going hop, hop, hop

I said, "Please Mr.Bunny".

Won't you stop,stop, stop."

He flapped his big, long ears

and had no words to say,

And before I could get near him

he had hop hopped away!

What family traditons do you instill in your child/children?

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

This song is one of my all-time favorites ! Imagine a little furry rabbit hopping all over the place hiding easter eggs and bringing chocolates, now we can see why the Cadbury bunny is so popular.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hopping down the bunny trail.

Hippity hoppity,

Easter's on its way!

Bringing every girl and boy

A basket full of Easter joy

Things to make your Easter

Bright and gay.

He's got jelly beans for Tommy,

Colored eggs for sister Sue.

There's an orchid for your mommy,

And an Easter bonnet too. Oh!

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin' down the bunny trail.

Hippity Hoppity

Happy Easter Day!

Second Verse similar to the first ;

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hopping down the bunny trail.

Look at him hop and listen to him say,

"Try to do the things you should."

Maybe if your extra good,

He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way.

You'll wake up on Easter morning

And you'll know that he was there,

When you find those chocolate bunnies

That he's hiding everywhere.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hopping down the bunny trail.

Hippity Hoppity

Happy Easter Day!

I love them, they are really cute. Guess what my children will be singing this Easter when egg hunting or decorating their cupcakes? I am printing this right now. It will be fun looking for a tune to match the songs :-)

Thank you Princessa , we think there cute too, as for my son who is eight well he honestly still enjoys them, he just thinks he is a big biy now. You will have fun looking for the tunes, our family has so each time I share them with a friend they add their tune making them more and more exciting. Thank you for your support and Happy Easter, don't forget the rabbit ears. :)

Your family traditon is rich. My grown kids still look for the Lamb cake that sits out and the icing gets hard, but kids still pick at it and eat it. Thanks for sharing

coffeesnob: I honestly feel blessed that our family is so close , as I have seen so many who are not and I have friends who actually come over for Easter after church to continue to the celebration with the children, so we now have an extended family to celebrate with. What is lamb cake? That sounds yummy and interesting , maybe you should share your Easter family tradtion. :)

You rock, AEvans!

As a music educator, it is awesome to learn new songs, especially those that can be used seasonally in music lessons! These would have been perfect for my K-5 classes when I taught music. I wish I could hear the melody to these songs. If you are interested, I'd be happy to help you figure out a way to get mp3s of these songs up so they are available for listening pleasure. I can convert cassettes to mp3s on my computer. Not sure how you may want to go about it, but just wanted to throw the idea out there for ya. Contact me if you are interested. Thanks for sharing your awesome family tradition! :)

Sev: Thank you and let me seriously consider that as I know the melody to these songs, I don't know if my family made them up as it is a tradition but I certainly know that they are a lot of fun. You should teach music again on the side, as I play Piano and have considered it . As a singer a little off beat, as a pianist I do well. :)
