Equinox Common Questions
"Every year around this time I get questions about the Equinox. Those questions generally fall into 3 categories:
- What exactly is the Vernal Equinox?
- What the connection between the Vernal Equinox and Easter?
- Can you really balance an egg on its pointy end on the Vernal Equinox?"
Celebration of Easter with Elaborate Decorations

On Easter we celebrate love,
love coming down from heaven,
love blanketing the earth
in a transforming embrace;
unique and infinite love,
giving more than we can imagine
for us, to cleanse our sin,
a perfect sacrifice, Lamb of God,
the walking, talking Word.
He is teacher, role model, friend,
this God in human form,
dying, then rising from the dead,
proving all who believe
will also rise
to have eternal life, with Him,
Lord of all.
Oh, Happy, Happy Easter!

An Intersection That Shouts with Easter Joy
Imagine driving down a street in suburbia and seeing an explosion of Easter colors in massive baskets? This was the original scene that first motivated me to share Easter decorations. Talk about over the top exuberance! Just love it!
Sadly, I don't feel the photos do justice to the creative genius who put this large public display together.
It is important to note, this is a private display. This is not tax dollars at work. I must commend the owner for investing in the neighborhood and bringing added beauty to a large roadway in Rockford, Illinois.

Celebrate Easter In Your Own Way
Easter decorations don't have to be one dimensional. Consider some other three dimensional displays to shout for this joyous season. Use bright colors of the spring forsythia yellow branches, purple eggs (even if they are plastic) and throw a bunny in for whimsy and added texture.
Here are a few out of the box ideas we will explore visually to celebrate this special season:
- Easter Garlands
- Easter Flower Boxes / Window Boxes
- Easter Planters
- Easter Bunnies on Front Chairs
Did you ever consider an Easter garland? I certainly didn't. Christmas decorations have long had garlands of greenery but check out these fabulous ideas for various different types of Easter garland. I was amazed at the creativity.
These decorations make me want to re-think the Easter decorations that I display at my home. But wait there is more - allot more. We haven't even gotten to the best of the best - the front doors. Oh, do we have eye candy to delight your senses. Stay tune to the very end.

Red Neck Easter Basket
Someone labelled this pink bra as a red neck Easter basket. I think it is simply fun. Come on, doesn't it make you smile! :)
To me, this is thinking outside of the box in the most "bra"zzare way. Oh, dear, I believe I am now being corny - so sorry.

Imperial Easter Decorations
Long ago and a place far away, in a nation ruled by an Imperial family called Romanov, Easter was celebrated with 18k gold and precious stones and elaborate artistry. The artist's name was Faberge and the Easter presents were designed for the Czarista and given by the last Emperor of Russia by the name of Nicholas II who reigned from 1894 to 1917.
The recipient of these exquisite and elaborate Easter egg gifts was Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova. She was the Empress consort of Russia, spouse of Nicholas II, the last Emperor of the Russian Empire.
Many of the real Russian Easter eggs hand crafted by Faberge still exist today.
The Easter eggs designed by Faberge for the Czar were always made of the finest materials with painstakingly designed collaborated and overseen by the Czar himself. One of the many mandates made by the Czar was the egg must always be original. Additionally, many of the eggs held a surprise. One of the most important and beautiful is the golden carriage Easter egg called the Coronation Egg and presented by Czar Nicholas II to his wife in 1874. The Coronation Egg is the most celebrated Easter decoration in the world.
Exceptional Easter Decorations Need Not Be Expensive
So you see the fascination with Easter decorations is not a new trend. Everything old is new again and luckily today, the designs are bigger and better than ever before and yet the cost is within the reach of many.
The very best decorations for Easter need not be 18k gold and precious stones, the very best decorations need not be expensive, in fact, the best designs showcased here are the ones which are carefully crafted and individually designed.
Whatever your decorations, the season is made brighter with a simple "Happy Easter!"
Share Your Favorite Easter Decoration
Share your favorite. My favorite decoration is the very last entrance door with the bunny rabbit sitting comfortably to the side as to say, Easter is more than a celebration, it is a joyous occasion filled with surprise elements of whimsy.
The tiny bit of whimsy speaks to my very soul. It is not too colorful, not too youthful and yet it elegantly celebrates a very special season of the year. Although I would change the sign that says "Bunnies Beware" to "All Bunnies Welcome" because that is the essence of the season, a celebration for all.
