Four Predictions for 2010
The year 2010 is upon us and, as always, there are a huge number of predictions for the new year. Whether these predictions will come true or not remains to be seen. I'm still waiting for the December 21, 2012 prediction but that's still about three years away. For now, I'll stick with the upcoming year. Here are four predictions from various sources for the next 12 months.
The Detroit Lions will make a comeback. This may just be wishful thinking on my part since I always cheer for my hometown teams, but I think the Detroit Lions have been building up their team for the last few years. They have the talent and the capabilities to beat almost any team in the NFL on any given day, but they have not learned to work together and make the other teams play their game on the turf. Look for few staff and player changes for the 2010-2011 season. I expect the boys in blue will surprise everybody when the new season begins.
2. New hate crime legislation will lead to a rash of pastors being arrested. The new hate crime laws will hinder pastors of various denominations from preaching against homosexuality and other biblical sins. Homosexual activists will begin sitting in on church services simply to record and report ministers when they engage in this "hate speech." Several pastors will be jailed for the offense in 2010.
3. Movies will be released on DVD and pay-per-view the same day they are released in theaters. I've heard the rumor that movie studios are going to release movies to DVD and pay-per-view on the same day as theaters since the days of Peter Jackson's King Kong, but nothing ever came of it. I think movie studios are going to experiment with this option in 2010 with one or maybe two movies just to test the market. Of course, the DVD and pay-per-view rentals would cost more than normal rentals, but with the popularity of big screen TVs and home theater systems, people would welcome this option instead of going to the movie theater and having the movie ruined by crying babies, texting teenagers and other obnoxious distractions.
4. E-Readers will be all the rage. According to Kyle Brady at TrueSlant.com, e-readers like the Kindle and the Nook will grow exponentially in popularity as print media and resources continue to dwindle. I don’t know about you, but I like to have a newspaper or a book in my hand instead of a small digital device to read my news and classic literature. Maybe that's just me.
So there are a few predictions for 2010. Some are my predictions while some predictions come from other sources. We'll have to see what happens in the upcoming year. Here's to a great 2010 for everybody!
