Friday Is My Favorite Day of the Week
What Is It About Fridays?
What is it about Fridays? Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are work days, but Fridays are different! This day stands out on its own as the day BEFORE the weekend. Does that make it special? Apparently it does!
Have you ever needed to see a Doctor on a Friday? They seem to vanish into thin air. Finding a Doctor on any given Friday can be a huge challenge? We pay them all that money and they work four days a week???
Are you waiting for a business office to call you back? You won't get your callback on a Friday. Chances are that the boss is not even in the office on Fridays. Has this country gone to a four day work week? No, the secretaries are in the office, only the boss has flown the coup. He's on the golf course!
Lots of colleges hold classes Monday through Thursday. Thursday nights are considered to be the Friday nights of the college crowd. There is no studying on Thursday evenings!
Everyone in the office goes out to lunch on Fridays. The restaurants are especially full of office workers on this notorious day. Even the highway traffic patterns change on Fridays. People leave earlier for work and the traffic starts earlier on Friday afternoons. Does this mean that offices have different working hours on Fridays? Some do. Others declare Fridays to be casual days, meaning that the dress code is relaxed on Fridays to reflect the nature of the day. The office goes into a pre-holiday mode of operation.
I wonder how much work really gets done on Fridays? Is there a push to get things done by Friday, or a mental note made to leave it until Monday. It makes me wonder about job productivity on this particular day of the week. Is there any?
Fridays are special days. We used to call Wednesday "Hump Day". or say that we are halfway there. It's all downhill from here. But Fridays are special because they signal the end of a busy week and precede Saturday and Sunday as the weekend. There is usually an expectancy on Friday about the upcoming weekend. What will I do, how will I spend my time, what needs to get done over the weekend? Where are we going this weekend, who is coming to visit, and I can sleep late are all thoughts that workers have on this famous day!
Fridays have become a day of preparation for the weekend. Workers mentally begin to adjust to the weekend from the busy workplace. By three o'clock on Fridays, the offices are half empty. Let me warn you, don't stand in front of the door at five o'clock because you will get run over by the stampede of people leaving for their weekend. Charge!
Enjoy your weekend. It's Friday!
