Fun for the Fourth!
The 4th of July is the holiday to spend time with family and friends and celebrate American independence. Take advantage of this classic holiday by putting together your own festivities that the entire family can enjoy. These are some ideas that can put a spark in your holiday and help you to plan a party to be remembered.
Plan a Backyard BBQ
There’s nothing more American than enjoying some good home cooked BBQ on the 4th of July. Break out the cooler and grill and recruit friends to come over with their own favorite dishes. If you don’t have a grill, rent one and get all the benefits for the day without any of the regular maintenance.
Cook hot dogs with a hot dog steamer to get the perfect temperatures. If you are hosting a lot of people, this will make cooking a lot faster and the cleanup easier. While you’re at it, invest in a few tent rentals to escape the scorching summer sun and enjoy the comforts of your own backyard.
If you have enough room in the yard, setup a slip-n-slide or some backyard games to entertain the kids and keep them busy while the food is busy cooking.
Throw a Family Friendly Block Party
If you live in a family oriented neighborhood, get all your neighbors together and contact an event rentals shop to get a hold of a few bounce houses and concessions for the kids. Notify the necessary authorities if you plan blocking off any portion of the street, or just host the party from lawn to lawn.
This will provide a safe place for kids and teens to enjoy the holiday with friends while also sharing the cost of a holiday celebrations between neighbors.

Watch a Firework Show
You can’t have the 4th of July without fireworks. Head out to the backyard and light off some sparklers to get everyone in the mood for the main show later on. Every year, cities all over the US throw an annual parade and firework show to celebrate America’s independence. While your waiting for the festivities to get started, set up some portable sound system and a beverage chiller and sit back and enjoy what is probably a well-earned day off from work.
Setup some backyard lights if you plan on celebrating into the night and make sure that you water down any sparklers before throwing them away in the trashcan to prevent fires.
Red, White, and Blue Cocktails
For the adults, throw a cocktail party themed around the fourth of July. Select colored beverages and liquors that will showcase America’s greatness. You could also select a vodka or clear liquor and add trace amounts of food coloring if you want to achieve the coloring; however, pre-colored liquors will save you a lot of time and effort.
Pair the cocktails with some American themed finger foods like some burgers and hot dogs, baked sweets and yummy snack food. Keep all your food warm in a chafer which works great for serving and will help to keep bugs and flies away from the food.
