Global Vision Inspired Party; See friends in costume representing the countries of their choice

Expect more photos in this hub

Since I will be talking about costumes or clothes from all over the world, I guess it's best to post as many photos as possible, and let readers see how Filipinos represent themselves in occassions where in the choses theme is about globalization and yet maintain a Filipino heart.

Employees were grouped into 4 representing the 4 continents of the world such as Asia, Africa, United States of America and Europe.

I belonged to the group representing Asia. Asian costume will not be new to us Filipinos because we are already familiar with the traditional clothes of our fellow Asian Countries. So my groups were either Koreans, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian or Filipinos.

My Costume

I chose to represent India

Followers from India, I hope I really got it right. I may not get it perfectly right but at least I am a bit closer to the ideal. I chose India because the clothes I found representing the country is much more comfortable to wear... I really like the one that I wore in the party, I love the sleeves, and the dress fitted me, as if the tailor made it while thinking of me LOL.. Anyway officemate who bought clothes to represent India too laughed when she saw me wearing it, according to her I really looked like someone from India. So I decided to buy the clothes for a true to life, role playing.

I had my hair braided and tried to put on thicker eyeliner around my eyes... Got no time to buy artificial birthstone so I used a sequin instead and put it on my forehead.

The Asia Group

Obviously the most colorful group because of the grandeus costumes and headdress wore by the members. Our presentations included traditional dances to Modern dances of the chosen Asian Countries such as China, Thailand, Japan, Korea and Philippines. Our presentation started with a storyline of two Filipinos given the break to travel in other Asian countries. Since we are Filipinos, the finale of our Presentation was dancing to our National Dance that we called the Tinikling. Then ended with a Popular song by the Group Hotdog entitled "Manila". where in everybody including those in other Asian countries danced.

Our Group also won in 1st Place in the Presentation.

Korea Group

Philippine Group

Asian Group has at least presented 5 types of Asian Dances, aside from Costumes, their performance were ok but my favorite was the Philippine Group... not because I am a filipino but because they were the best performers

From the African continent

African Continent

African Continent has colorful costumes too but majority of those in this group choose the earth color designs. Just like us, they also dances to the tune that quite represents the african countries . I am not familiar with some African Countries but I know I saw someone from Simbabwe and Sahara Dessert

Presentation of African Group

Aside from dancing to the festive tune of Africa, this group also tried to sing USA for Africa's "We are the World", This group got the 3rd place.

The European Group

Although they were in the 4th place, their presentation has a Good storyline, that connect one Euriopean country to another. The story revolved in the well known Royal Wedding of Prince William and Lady Kate. Characters were spoof naturally. Prince Charles and Camilla, even Lady Diana was there, the Wedding guest were representatives from other european countries like Scotland, Iceland, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand. Other British Icons were also there like, Hitler, Bonafart, Harry Potter, the Pope and even James Bond.

Their presentation ended with a Dance number

The American Group

This group won the 2nd place. Just like the European Group, they also used American Icons and popular music. The New Yorker Group danced to the tune of Frank Sinatra's New York New York, Elvis Presley came with his Teddy Bear Song, Madonna returned with her "Like A Virgin dance number", Michael Jackson came alive with his "Beat it". Superman the Man of Steel also came, and for young ones, Boy Band, Justine Bieber and other teen pop idols also graced the program. Even the popular cartoons like sponge bob was there. By the way the statue of Liberty came to life too.

Presentation

It was fun watching the American group for they were able to bring together all those popular characters or Icons. But the older generation can never get it right away, when it comes to Justin Bieber and some Teen pop idols... but they are great...most of all they haven't forgotten to include the symbol well known in America, the Statue of Liberty

The End of the Party

Office is not always a pleasant place to feel comfortable, so a party like this is eliminating the stress at least. I admire my officemates for having a positive attitude during our activities, they did spend for costume even without anything in return.

For me in a situation when you don't expect to be happier anymore, our party aiming for Global Standard is indeed happier than anyone can imagine.... my prayers to myself and to fellow officemates who were not included in the "apple of the eyes" List. At least We have God who will help us always.

MOre photos will be posted soon..

Hi maria-cecilia. You have a good presentation of the costumes all over the world. There is one thing though that caught my eyes. The Nazi uniform of Germany in the second world war. I know it is popular in other countries to represent Germany with this Nazi (symbol) uniform but here in Germany, it is forbiden and it is punishable by law. Well, I enjoyed reading your article and you really look like an Indian beauty. Your workmates look beautiful, too. Well done.

Thelma Thanks a lot for visiting again, and thanks for the information also about the Nazi symbol used, please tell me if I am doing wrong I am willing to delete the photos in this hub. I am bit sensitive to it because I don't want to offend just in case.. Please enlighten me more. Thanks I take that as a compliment that I really look like an indian beauty, cousin told me no effort needed in our case, my other cousins almost has the same features... thanks again

Hi, I´m back again. No, you are not doing wrong. Leave the photos in your hub as it is. I did only want you to inform about this Nazi uniform and its symbol. Germans are sensitive about it but there´s nothing we can do. It is how the Germans are known to the world. Bad things just stuck more in our minds than good things... I still remember when I came home with my husband and son long time ago that we have seen the Nazi symbol in our very own tricycle. We were so shocked about it...Of course my parents did not know how my husband responded to what he saw...My parents were even proud to show it to us..Germans are not proud of their history...Anyway, thanks for your comment... Yes, it was a compliment...Take care.

Thanks Thelma, but that information is some kind of enlightenment, I will consider it as a trivia, so that Filipinos will know

Great photos and a well presented hub. Thanks too to Thelma Alberts for the information she gave in her comment. Though we are living in different countries, we are still magkababayan sharing what we know around the world. Thanks to both of you.

Lucia you should point out which one do you find very offending? as far as I know officemates researched first before they chose their costumes.. for sure they won't be inventing things ok?
