Now, we all know that it's the thought that counts; this being said; it is possible to put together a thoughtful, inexpensive, yet attractive gift for less then ten dollars.

"How is that possible?" - You ask.

Believe me, I've had to do it plenty of times and no one has ever been the wiser.

More often than not, it's all about creativity, thinking outside the box, and presentation.

Here's a couple of gift ideas - all items purchased from the Dollar Tree - that are under ten dollars.

Enjoy!

a.) Roll the cooking apron up in a tight roll and stick the wooden spoons in the small opening at the top (make sure a small portion of the top and the bottom of the spoons are visible - place a large rubber-band around the apron to secure it).

b.) Using the cookbook for your base; lay the potholders down diagonally on top of the cookbook, lay the apron on top of the potholders vertically, secure it with a rubber-band (rubber-band should fit around the apron, potholders, and book).

c.) Camouflage the rubber-band with a bright (color should correspond with the apron, oven mitts and potholders) ribbon, and tie it in a large bow.

Total cost - including rubber bands and ribbon (which you can purchase from the Dollar Tree as well) - $8.00!

You are so welcome Hello, hello. Like most people, I'm forced to make my dollar stretch in every avenue of my life - gift giving as well. I've tried everyone of these Ideas and they have all been a big hit!

It all takes a bit of creativity. I'm so glad we are returning to using it. I do appreciate a gift that shows thought and I like to do likewise.

When my grown nephew was pretty ill - I did buy a photo album for $1.00 - and I filled it with some of the childhood photos he may not remember (or want to remember) - he was thrilled (and I know it made him feel better)!

This is a good idea - to share more ideas. Thanks!

Thanks BkCreative. Believe it or not, I've done this several times, and everyone just loved it. It really is about using creativity and putting a lot of thought in gift -giving. You can buy the most expensive item without much thought and effort, and turn around and spend less than ten dollars and it be a big hit. It really depends on how much thought you put into it. Your Idea was great too. My mother and my auntie gifted me a picture album and scrap-booking stickers at my baby shower - that I use today to make a memory book for my girls. These items all came from the Dollar Tree as well.

These are all great ideas and I love the Dollar Tree! One thing I've done in the past is get a coffee mug and put a few packets of hot chocolate or cappuccino inside along with my Christmas photo and tied a red ribbon around the handle of the mug. I just love doing things like that!

I love the dollar tree, and when you are short on money, you can really give a nice gift if you put your mind to it. It just takes some creativity.

I love the dollar tree stores. It is truly amazing what you can find. One of my favorite things to buy is school supplies for my classroom. Right now I am looking for photo albums to make scrapbooks for my students. I would like to know if there are any large photo albums in the dollar tree stores now?

Hi Ann, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I believe that dollar tree carried larger photo albums at one time, but lately I have only seen small photo albums. It may depend on the dollar tree store as well.

You have to watch what you buy at the Dollar Stores. A lot of times there is lead in the stuff and also the toys are made cheap and can break, children can choke on the pieces. Other then that I like to buy outdoors decorations there. It cost a dollar, if it gets ruined, you can through it away. I did a hub on the candy recall. It was candy that was shipped to Dollar Stores

I have also noticed, when i bought coffee cups from there, there would be black marks in the cup, like where the spoon hits it left a mark. So I don't buy them there anymore.

This is soooo GREAT! I have such a very tiny budget this year BUT this WILL work! I thought about doing wine glasses with candles as well and basket filed with soaps, salts and scrubs. This is very very fantastic!!!! I am officially excited!

Tammy 6 years ago

Great ideas!! My budget for Christmas this year is very low. I have decided that this year, I want Christmas to be all about the true meaning of the holiday and not all about the gifts and stuff...However, once again I find myself already obsessing over what I can get everybody and I find it dampening my Christmas mood already!! So your ideas have come to the rescue!!! THANK YOU!!!

To Broke Mom and Tammy, I'm so excited that this little hub of mine will help you out during your gift giving this year. I really do feel that it's the thought that counts and when you really put your head together, you can put together some really nice gifts that mean a lot and that are useful without breaking your budget. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi. I love that the dollar tree is cheap but I'm only 11 and Im tring to find a good present for my (I hate to say it) boyfriend. If you have any ideas piease tell me.I have only 10 bucks and he gets me presents all the time.THANK YOU!!!!

Veronica Allen profile image

Veronica Allen 5 years ago from Georgia Author

Wow trish....you are only eleven and already have a boyfriend. Forgive my mothering nature.... Well, hmmmmmmmm....let's see, a lot is going to depend on what he likes. Here's an idea....why not put together a small themed basket for him? If he has a sweet tooth; get a small basket (for a dollar), and fill it with $7 worth of candy (several types of candies), leaving you with $2 for shrink wrapping paper and ribbon. Since he is in school, the dollar tree has a lot of cool items that are great for getting and staying organized in school like small locker mirrors, fun character inspired pencils and notepads, etc. Why not put together a small basket that will include some fun and funky items that will help keep him organized in school? If he is into movies, grab a box of popcorn, a box of candy, and some other salty or sweet snacks put it in a reusable $1 caddy and he can have a movie night at home!
