Gold Gift Tag

8 Medium Apples (more if you’re having more than 8 for dinner)

8 Wooden Skewer sticks (insert into apples)

Combine following ingredients and place in saucepan

2 cups of sugar

1 cup of light corn syrup

1 cup of water

1 cup of red cinnamon candies

Few drops of red food coloring

Stir over medium heat until mixture boils and separates in threads and are hard to 280 degrees using a candy thermometer.

Dip apples in syrup in pot

Below mixture, or crushed chocolate and nuts make nice toppings to roll the apples in after dipping in the syrup

Crush 4 cups of rice cereal, nuts, or chocolate bits

Set on wax paper to harden

Once the topping has hardened take your ribbon and tie at the base of the apple into a bow

Attach gold or decorative tag and inside the tag write the person’s name, and the reason you are thankful about something they have done that year.

This makes a nice gift, yummy dessert, and an individual appreciation of each of your guests.

Display each apple on the side of their plate on top of ruffled netting placemat

The small tags can be saved years to come, and collected each year by your guest, so do keep a book of each appreciation of thanks so you don’t duplicate them the next year.
