A Fun Christmas Holiday Scavenger Hunt

The holidays are a great time to get out of the house and ride around looking at Christmas lights and Christmas displays. In Texas, we believe in doing it up in a big way.

I have put on several Scavenger Hunts for my daughter and her friends and have always found them to be a lot of fun. I thought it would be fun to create a Holiday Scavenger Hunt where I could combine going out looking at Christmas lights with hunting for items.

I have made a list of situations to look for that you can check off when riding around at lights and a list of items to find. The situations are where you are looking for a house that has a specific item on the list. You can simply check it off or write down the address next to the item.

You can do this is several different ways. You can compete against one or more other groups in a separate vehicles or it can simply be something you do on your own with friends or family just for fun.

Whichever way you decide, print out this list and head out for some holiday fun. Please remember to buckle up and drive safely.

This house matches many of the items on the list, but try not to use the same house for multiple clues!

You know what that means, Ethel? It means you need to write a UK version. I run into this all the time with my husband....he sprung a new word on me this week....warren. We just say rabbit hole.

Head out and see how many you find, Lynne.

Hehe...it wouldn't be fair. I have a friend who goes all out in a very big way. I'll have to go take a pic or see if my daughter still has the one from last year up. All these things and more can be found at this one house. They have two barns one in front of the house and one out back and live on 5 acres. All 5 acres are decorated from the front of the first barn all the way to the last barn at the back of the property.

Well, you could still play fair and exclude her house from the game, Lynne. Or you could only count her house for the most difficult item you don't think you'd find anywhere else.

This does sound like fun. We live in a town of about 25000 and there are some streets of terrace houses (row houses to an American) where all the houses are decorated in a theme. So if somebody was compiling a UK list I think 'linked house decorations' should be on the list.

Thanks 2Patricias, they do that here too. I just made up the list. Anyone can modify their own list and customize it to make it more difficult or easier depending on the situation or age group participating.

Thanks Putz. My daughter's friends have always enjoyed the ones we've created for her birthday and back-to-school parties. This is my first holiday-themed one. I'll be printing it off to take out too. Hope they enjoy it!
