Homemade Gift Ideas For Women

Creative Gifts for Her

Homemade has never looked better. What used to be just a side hobby, crafting has now turned into a multi-million dollar industry!

There are sites that sell nothing but handmade crafts (like Etsy) and many sites that sell wholesale supplies to make the crafts on your own.

Handmade gifts no longer look like less expensive gifts because you couldn’t afford something better. Today’s hand fashioned gifts are serious coveted works of art.

Try your hand at some of the most popular gifts for women. Hand crafting is so much fun and while it may turn out to be less expensive, it won’t look inexpensive or second rate when you are finished.

Scrapbooks

Create a scrapbook for a lady friend. Buy a blank scrap book and set out to decorate it with high end papers. Every store these days from local discounters to mega craft stores sell papers for scrapbooking. Along with those papers, you’ll find every embellishment under the sun. From plush 3D stickers to ribbon art and stencils, you’ll find that scrapbooking can become a fun obsession.

You will love doing it so much that you may find it hard to give away your creations. But you will want to give that special friend one of your books to love as well. Better yet, invite a bunch of friends over and you can all scrapbook together. Then you can swap books as gifts or you can make gifts to give to others in the family or friends.

Handmade Dolls

Dolls are not just for little girls. Big girls love them, too! Make a cute doll using a clay face or a bisque face you can purchase at a craft store. You can then embellish it with clothing made from scraps of material you have around the house. Dress them up and make a whole family or just make one special one for your friend.

Check out craft magazines at a book store. You’ll find there are magazines like Art Doll that feature how-to ideas and patterns for you to try.

Gourmet Food Gift

If your friend is more apt to like gourmet foods, make up a batch of chocolate chip cookie mix in a jar. You just layer the ingredients and then put the recipe on an index card attached to the jar by ribbon. Your friend will add the wet ingredients and bake. You can also use the same idea for brownies in a jar or other goodies that need to be mixed in with wet ingredients. There are many recipes for these types of jar gifts online.

Sweet Arrangement

Gourmet foods can also mean gift baskets full of treats you bake and assemble into a pretty basket or even a woman cookie bouquet. Make cookies on lollipop sticks and arrange as a bouquet in a pretty pitcher. Or bake batches of different cookies, nut mixes, or other treats and arrange them in individual cellophane bags in a pretty container.

Think about your container as much as your contents. The container can be an old hat box, a cookie tin painted over and decorated, a decoupaged box or just a traditional basket with a bow. Remember that the first impression will be the container, so make it grand and pretty. The goodies inside are just the icing on the cake.

Voted up and useful! Lots of good ideas here. If I were skilled enough, I would attempt the doll but I don't see that going over well with me!

Good suggestions for sure, and now you have me thinking in advance rather than waiting for the last moment. Thank you!
