Ideas for Unusual Christmas Gifts

Tired of buying the same old Christmas gifts year in and year out?

How about buying some unusual Christmas gifts this year? It's always fun to find something a little bit different and novelty to give to a loved one as a gift. Unusual Christmas gifts tend to stand out a little bit from the crowd and are often more remembered than traditional gifts.

Generally speaking, I think of unusual Christmas Gifts as being anything that's handmade, unique, personalized or just not mass-produced.

Handmade Gifts

If you fancy yourself as a crafty person, then you could always consider making your own Christmas gifts. This is a great way to show the ones you love that that you have put some extra thought into gift-giving, and at the same time you will probably save some money, too! Check out these two excellent hubs for some excellent homemade bath and beauty gifts, as well as handmade gifts that cost very little money.

If you don't feel like making your own gifts, or don't have the time, then how about looking to local businesses or creative entrepreneurs for some of their own ideas for unusual Christmas gifts?

Handmade jewelry is growing increasingly popular and it's nice to know that while supporting a small business you can also buy something handmade and unique that would be perfect for a Christmas gift that's just a "little bit different" and not mass-produced in stores.

Personalized Gifts

Any gift that features the recipient's name, bears a personalized message, or is made just for them, is really quite special! A personalized gift implies that a certain amount of extra thought and consideration has been put into buying the gift and could therefore be considered unusual and unique.

When thinking about purchasing personalized gifts you could either buy an item off the shelf from a store and then have it engraved or embroidered, or you could visit one of the many online merchants that offer unique and personalized gifts. Here are some of my favourite ideas:-

So why not be a little bit different this year and check out some unusual Christmas gifts? Make gift-giving fun and buy them something that will make them smile!

Great tips! I love giving homemade gifts that I've made myself or purchased from other artisans. Sometimes this includes personalized items! I'm sure that I will be giving at least a couple homemade gifts this Christmas.

This is a great hub. I like to give unusual or homemade gifts. This summer I made lots of jellies, jams, and conserves to put into homemade gift baskets as gifts for Christmas. They especially work for someone who has everything.

Great hub. Voting up and awesome.

These ideas are so good, it is like they have sister ideas as well. You always have my vote. up, across and today, i add funny cause i am? :) Be good.

There are some great ideas here. This is one of those topics that I sincerely think about all year long! Every time I see something "different" or out of the ordinary at the mall or something I always try to figure out in my mind who's awesome gift it would make. Ha ha ha.

Koralee, it's wonderful to meet another Albertan! I enjoyed your hub "Christmas Wish Lists For Men, Women, And Children" also, but it seemed there was no comment box so I couldn't leave you a reply. Looking forward to reading more of your hubs :)

Lauren, I'm glad I'm not the only one LOL, I'm ALWAYS on the look out for that "something different". I liked your smart pen idea in your latest hub.

Llulizzy1942, you're welcome! Thanks for the comment.

I just love the presents that are "different". Sometimes you just need to see a little bit of the gift giver in the gift :) As a side hobby and little money earner, I create videos from photos and music and from the feedback I've received by now, they have always been a very well received gift. Thanks for your ideas, will use :P

i loved the hub new to the hub pages this one made me laugh. I remember one Christmas i told my mom i wanted to get my dad Lincoln logs it was so funny to see him open that gift. Even though my brother and i played with them, dad too sometimes. I think it brought back his childhood, now it's puzzles and dad loves em still even the Halloween Where's Waldo one was funny. The best thing about the holidays is giving not getting. the hub was great can't wait to read more.

Thank you, what a great hub. Really, the best way to go is to do personalized gifts, in my opinion. If you have the knack to cook, make some cookies or some other edibles. Or if you're an expert on making crafts, do some wonderful gifts from your own ideas. The possibilities are endless. :)
