Last Minute Valentines Day Ideas - Gifts To Go!

Say it with Jewellery

There is nothing like a piece of jewellery to say ‘I love you’. A necklace, bracelet, earrings or a combination set, but a diamond ring says it best of all.

Valentine’s Day is the best day of the year to get down on bended knee and say ‘I love you’ and then present the small open box with a glistening ring and say those well known words of commitment‘ Will you marry me?’ Awww so romantic!

Make sure you propose in a romantic place or somewhere where you both love, first met, or first made love! It will make it all the more special.

Say it with Perfume

E-scential! Say it with his/her favourite perfume or cologne, or introduce a new scent that is sensual, provocative and sexy. Let her/him know how you feel and arouse their expectations. There are a range of fragrances that evoke the sentiment of love. Here are a few you can give your loved one with pleasure.

For Him                                             For Her

Acqua Di Gio (Armani)                       Black Orchid (Tom Ford)

Armani Black Code                            White Patchouli (Tom Ford)

Joop                                                  Notorious (Ralph Lauren)

One Million (Paco Rabanne)             Lady Million (Paco Rabanne)

Say it with Chocolates

Don’t buy an ordinary box of chocolates (but if that’s all you can afford dress it up with bows and petals). Otherwise go for a quality exotic and delectable box of chocolates.

After your loved one has opened the box, delicately feed her the chocolates, and if you are minded to propose, open the box so that when she lifts the lid lifted she will see a beautiful diamond ring in the place of one of the chocolates. Ooooo I can see her face right now, a beaming smile, excited and delighted that you want to make the relationship more permanent!

Say it with a Delicious Chocolate Cake

Show off your culinary skills and bake a delicious moist, chocolaty cake for Valentine’s Day. For those who want to propose, pop a ring into the slice of cake you present to her. It would be so romantic!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

170g (6oz) unsalted margerine
170g (6oz) Caster Sugar
110g (4oz) Self Raising Flour
85g (3oz) Drinking Chocolate
3 Eggs, well beaten
1tbsp Hot Water

Optional: Edible love heart sprinkles.

Glace Icing

340g (12oz) Icing Sugar
100g (4oz) Drinking Chocolate
4 tbsp Hot Water to mix (approximately)

Misc

Heart Shaped Cake Tin

Method:

Pre-heat over to 180C, 350F or Gas Mark 4.
Grease and line an 8 inch heart shaped cake tin
In a mixing bowl sieve together the flour and drinking chocolate.
In another bowl or food mixer cream the margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, a litle at a time, adding a tablespoon of the flour mixture to prevent curdling.
Fold in the remaining flour and chocolate mixture and stir in the hot water.
Place the mixture into the cake tin and smooth the top.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the surface springs back when pressed lightly.
Remove the cake from the tin and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Glace Icing:

Add the hot water to the sugar and the drinking chocolate to form a thick paste and coat the top and sides of the cake before serving. Use a knife dipped in boiling hot water to spread the icing evenly. Optional: sprinkle edible love hearts on top

Say It with Flowers

Get the most beautiful bloom made up for your girl and go one step further and sprinkle rose petals throughout her home, or in the bedroom. If you intend to propose to your beau, place the ring on one of the flowers, so that when she puts the arrangement in a vase she will be surprised when she comes upon a stem with a ring attached.

Say it with a Poem

Why not put pen to paper and write your own personal poem to your loved one. Tell him/her how you feel, how he/she makes you heart skip a beat, and how he/she completes you, making you whole. Take your written words to a calligraphist who can write it in the best hand, frame it and make it so personal. This is a gift to treasure that can be kept for life.

Happy Valentine’s!
