Make a January Birthday Gift Basket

January Birthdays are so close to Christmas and New Year's that shopping for a January gift is easy with a little planning. Take advantage of sales at around this time to get a thoughtful gift for your January birthday girl or boy. And start their year off right by making a lovely presentation of their gift. So often, the January-born feel overlooked, just like those born in November and December, because everyone is geared up for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year celebrations. Make sure that the gift is wrapped in birthday wrapping, don't use left over Christmas or New Year wrapping paper.

So let's get started on some ideas for the January-born birthday and things to put inside their gift basket.

Garnet is the birthstone for January

Garnets are beautiful gems with their deep red color. In fact the stone got it's name because it reminded people of the succulent pomegranate seed; garnet is derived from the latin word granatus which means grain or seed. It is one of the hardest gem stones and so perfect for making jewelry.

Consider getting this lovely heart-shaped 1.95 carat garnet pendant in a 14-karat white gold plated sterling silver setting on an 18-inch chain. The stone shimmers beautifully.

Does your January girl prefer earrings? You can get this pair of heart-shaped garnet earrings instead or in addition to the necklace. The total carat weight of the garnet stones are 3.10 and set on 14-karat white gold plated sterling silver.

If bracelets are more her style, then consider getting her this garnet tennis bracelet crafted with 18-karat yellow gold plated sterling silver. The stone weight is 9.39 carats! It is simply stunning and so affordable.

There aren't too many jewelry items for men, but here are two that I found that your birthday guy might like. Most men like to use cuff links as an accessory for success. It completes their polished look at the office. This sterling silver with garnet center is simple yet ornate and will complement any shirt in his closet.

The one-of-a-kind cross silver necklace is imported from Bali and hand-crafted by Balinese artist Kenari with a garnet in its center and comes with a woven cloth chain and a spring clasp.

This beautiful leather-made money clip in dark mahogany is something that is sure to please. Although not made of garnet, the garnet-like color of the dark mahogany carries on the theme and he will appreciate the strong magnets that will hold his bills securely.

Capricorn

The zodiac symbol for January is Capricorn. They are known to be patient, resourceful, loyal, and independent. If your birthday boy or girl is born between December 22 and January 19, and loves the Capricorn symbols, consider getting them a pendant like those shown here.

The circular pendant is made of stainless steel with the capricorn goat in the gold-finished center and surrounded by the other zodiac symbols. It comes with an 18-inch stainless steel ball chain and a lobster claw clasp. It's traditional and a little bit different at the same time.

The multi-charm pendant is finely crafted with fine sterling silver and has a garnet stone, the capricorn goat, and the zodiac symbol for capricorn. It comes on an 18-inch box chain.

Carnations

The birth flower for January is the carnation. Think about getting carnation-scented bath soaps for a luxurious and sweet smelling soak, or a mug or water bottle with a picture of a beautiful carnation. All very practical yet pretty gifts.

The carnation water bottle hold 21 ounces of liquid and stands 8 inches tall and is dishwasher safe on the top shelf.

The carnation coffee mug holds 15 ounces of coffee or any hot beverage and is microwave safe and FDA approved.

How about carrying the carnations theme to a stationery set? I know that many people communicate via digital data nowadays, but it is a distinct pleasure to get mail written on pretty stationery and there are many who like to use a stationery set to mail personal greetings.

The set of three triple-milled carnation scented bath soaps from Roger and Gallet is vegetal based and wrapped in a beautiful box.

For the major gift, think about what they really want for their birthday. It doesn't have to be anything related to garnets, carnations, or zodiacs; these suggestions are just something to fill in the basket, if you like. For guys, a January birthday is perfect for a football related gift, like a team helmet snack holder that they can use for Super Bowl Sunday.

Once you have bought the major gift, consider using this basket and lining it with a sheet of pink gift wrapping or carnation-imprinted gift wrapping. Then fill and arrange it with the little gifts for your January born birthday gal or guy. If the gift does not fit in the basket, wrap it separately and put the gift basket on top. And you are all set.
