Merry Christmas From Our House to Yours
Merry Christmas to My HubPages Friends
As the Holiday Season reaches its climax the year slowly reaches the end I find myself reflecting on the past year with all it's pleasures as well as travails! HubPages has offered me an outlet for my maunderings, opinions, and useless information that has been stored in my head for a very long time. I have come to value every one of you as friends. Some of you I have disagreed with but I hope I have never been disagreeable.
Thank you HubPages staff, administrators, and everyone involved in creating this wonderful writing environment that offers opportunity to all of us! Be blessed during this wonderful Season of Joy and whatever your beliefs, take a moment to ponder the good things you have enjoyed this year. May God richly bless every one of you during the final days of this year and every day in the New Year.
My Chistmas Dreams Silent Night began with the intention of recording some precious memories for my grandchildren. As the project grew it was obvious that others should share in the treasured memories of a lifetime.
From my earliest memories I loved the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas. In Texas there is no snow for Christmas and I always regretted that we could never have the picturesque Day so inspiring by songs like White Christmas and Sleigh Bells, even Jingle Bells!
Music defined the world for me from the very beginning. I will never hear Jingle Bell Rock without recalling my mother's wonderful Chocolate Cream Pie she made on Christmas Eve. Brenda Lee singing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree takes me back to my Daddy in the living room with the uncles and Grandpa. Silver Bells defines the experience for me and I always think of my earliest childhood when I hear this song! Christmas would not be complete without Burl Ives belting out Holly Jolly Christmas! And we could never celebrate without the Chipmunks raising a chorus singing 'Christmas, Christmas time is here, time for fun and time for cheer...'
Children's Christmas programs took place in church and at school where all the children either wore black skirts and pants with white blouses or shirts! There was always one or two of the little ones who did not cooperate and brought the house down with laughter!
Christmas Is For Families
Such memorable treasures! I love the Good Old Days! I love them a lot, but I am not ready to live in the past. Life is good today. The hard times are what brings families and people together. You learn more about yourself and those around you when things are not going well than you can ever learn during the good times. During the good times we tend to forget what life is all about...what really is important.
For you sticklers, we know that Jesus was not born on December 25. It does not matter what day the King of Kings was born. What matters is that HE was born! He came. He lived. He died. He lived again! He lives today! That is what is important. This is His day. Happy Birthday Jesus!

The Birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem
New King James Version (NKJV)
Christ Born of Mary
2 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife,[a] who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Glory in the Highest
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold,[b] an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”[c]
15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely[d] known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Heart Warming Thoughts About Christmas
A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than he's thought the months before,
And the laughter of his children is a joy worth toiling for.
He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;
When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime...
