An Old Fashioned Christmas - Vintage and Antique Christmas Items and Ideas
Vintage Christmas Ideas
A Vintage Christmas in Style!
As fads come and go, Christmas is always one holiday that never ceases to be an amazing time of the year. Vintage and antique themed Christmases are also back in style, complete with vintage Christmas clothes for babies and toddlers, vintage Christmas decorations including Santa Clauses, angels and garland - and even vintage wear for adults! Which just goes to show you that if you hang onto something long enough it will one day come back in style!
I am fortunate to have some wonderful vintage Christmas holiday decorations that have been handed down to me from loved ones and family. This year I have also found some adorable Christmas items to add to my "old-fashioned" Christmas!
Vintage Coca-Cola Santa Clauses
I was fortunate to inherit some of the original Coca-Cola Santa Clause stuffed dolls from the 60's and 70's (my parents best friend worked for the Coca-Cola company) I have found that you can still find these adorable Santa Clauses on Amazon.com. Every year my Coca-Cola Santa Clauses have been a great subject of conversation around the holiday table. Vintage Coca-Cola items for Christmas are always in style!
A Vintage Santa Clause would also make a great gift for the Coca-Cola lovers in your family!
Vintage and Antique Christmas Ornaments
Although it can be hard to get your hands on some real vintage and antique Christmas ornaments, there are some manufacturers that make adorable new ornaments fashioned after ornaments from the past. I inherited some Christmas ornaments that are over 100 years old that had belonged to some close friends of my parents. I'm sure these one-of-a-kind ornaments would be very expensive if I were to find them in an antique store. For those that want that old fashioned Christmas look for a fraction of the price though, you can find "new" vintage Christmas decorations on Amazon. You also might get lucky and score some at a local garage sale (if you have the patience to look and you have a treasure hunters heart!)
Cute Baby Girl Vintage Christmas Clothes and Hats
My daughter-in-law has a thing for cute retro clothes for her girls - and there are some adorable new vintage style Christmas clothes for both babies and toddlers available online. There are adorable little vintage Christmas hats along with booties, shoes and complete holiday Christmas sets. Even if you decided not to dress up your baby in a complete old fashioned Christmas outfit, the addition of one these beautiful little Christmas baby hats will be sure to be a cute addition to your little girls outfit. I think the classic reds, black and whites are always cute and in style.
Vintage Christmas Boys Clothing
I was pleasantly surprised that not only were there cute vintage Christmas clothes for girls but also for little boys this year. Usually boys get gypped out of all the cute clothes but I found some adorable little old-fashioned Christmas clothes for boys on Amazon this year. My grandson loves hats - and all of the Christmas outfits I found include cute little hats and some of them have bow ties! My grandson loves wearing hats so a vintage Christmas suit will "suit" him just fine this year. I can totally see him dressed up as a newsboy from the 30's for Christmas!
Vintage Christmas and Holiday Angels- Great for all Year Round!
One of my favorite things at Christmas (and actually all year round) are angels. One year my sons bought their grandma angels, and to this day both angels are displayed proudly throughout the year - one on the fireplace and one at the front entrance to their house. One of my personal favorite vintage Christmas angels is a simple angel Christmas topper that I have had since I was little girl. Angel lovers will be happy to find that vintage angels are very popular not only for Christmas decoration but they are also available as beautiful sculptures, some even handcrafted. Vintage Christmas Angels can be found online and bought at some of your favorite retail stores also.

Ideas for a Vintage, Antique and Old-Fashioned Christmas
To add to your vintage old-fashioned Christmas theme this year, some simple things you can do are to string some popcorn together to make a garland for your Christmas tree (this is always a fun project that you can do with your kids and it's very inexpensive) Another idea is to have your kids make some tree ornaments out of paper, using old Christmas cards. Just use a hole punch for the top and hang them with some yarn.
Anything old will also add to your vintage Christmas this year - maybe you have some old decorations that were given or handed down to you. Put those on your tree or hang them off your fireplace mantel. If you have some old Christmas Santa Clauses, angels or even old stuffed animals from when you were a kid, put them out under the tree to add that old-fashioned look.
I have always had fun combining the old with the new at Christmas - I add my antique vintage Christmas items to other things I have collected over the years to make a fun, artsy and old fashioned Christmas with the twist of my newer Christmas additions.
I hope you have fun decorating this year with your vintage Christmas decorations and items. Feel free to add comments here about your own favorite old-fashioned Christmas items that you enjoy in your own Christmas celebrations. Merry Christmas and may it be a fun one!
