Choosing a Baby Shower Theme
If you are lucky enough to be planning a baby shower - especially for twins or triplets - you may need some help, and that's where I come in! I have a lot of great ideas for planning a fun Peapod Baby Shower and I'll share them here with you.
From invitations to decorations, food to party favors, you can easily tie in a peapod theme througout your shower. With a little bit of time and creativity you can add a "sweet pea touch" to your entire shower!
If your mother-to-be doesn't know the sex of the baby (or babies) on the way, a peapod shower theme works equally well for baby boys or girls. You can also alter the shower theme for twins (Two Peas in a Pod), triplets (Three Peas in a Pod) or even more!

Sweet Pea Decorating and Games
When choosing decorations for your Sweet Pea baby shower, make sure to alter the decorations to reflect the number of babies on the way. For example, if there are two "peas in the pod", then create an adorable peapod balloon decoration by wrapping two helium balloons in green cellophane and tying each end with curling ribbon. Attach the balloon to the guest of honor's chair or the gift table.
Another great peapod creation is formed with burp cloths and a receiving blanket. Roll the burp cloths (baby bibs also work well) into a ball, then surround them with a blanket "peapod". Not only does this create a fun centerpiece for your table, it's a functional gift that can be given to the mother-to-be.
There are some simple pea-themed Baby Shower Games that you can work into your shower, one fun game that is commonly played at showers is the "guess the number" game. Fill up a jar with green candies (jelly beans or M&M's work well) and have each person guess how many candy "peas" are in the jar.

Sweet Pea Themed Food and Gifts
Let's face it - the best part of any baby shower is the food! Unless the new baby (or babies) are at the shower for you to cuddle with, most guests look forward to a refreshing luncheon or a delicious dessert to top off their day of visiting and giving motherly advice. If you want to serve pea-themed foods on your menu, consider a fresh vegetable tray that includes snap peas, create a pea-themed baby shower cake (either have it made or use your cake-making skills and some green food coloring to make it yourself), or whip up the salad listed below. You can easily substitute ham or tuna in place of the salmon, and virtually any type of pasta (suitable for salads) will work in place of the tortellini.
Diaper cakes make a wonderfully useful gift for the new mother - and they are a great centerpiece as well. When I hosted my sister's baby shower I made a three tier diaper cake for her and embellished it with rattles, booties, pacifiers and a bib. However, it was quite a struggle to keep the rolled-up diapers in place while tying it together, so unless you have some creativity and patience (and a good helper), I suggest purchasing one already made!
