Photography Gifts And Gadgets: The Top Photo Gift Ideas for Camera Buffs

Photo Gift Ideas for Camera Buffs

Coming up with just the right gift idea for a camera buff can sometimes be a daunting task. The most important thing to remember when trying to think of photo gift ideas for people who dabble a little in photography or go all out is that the gift needs to be appropriate to their level of expertise but only to a certain degree.

Sometimes it's a good idea to give a camera buff or the person just starting out in digital photography something they can learn to use but then on the other hand, you don't want to give them a photo gift that is so overwhelming that it may sit on the shelf and never be used.

Here are some great photo gift ideas from small to large for the average to the most experienced camera buff. You'll also notice that there is a huge variation in price ranges so most likely you'll be able to fit one of these ideas into your budget!

Binoculars with Digital Camera

This is a really great gift for camera buffs because most photographers really enjoy taking pictures of wildlife.

With these snazzy little binoculars, you can observe the wildlife and in addition, you can get a digital still image to take back and download to your computer.

Depending on the power of the binoculars and the digital image capability of the digital camera, you can decide which binocular type would most suit the needs of your favorite photographer or yourself.

Digital camera binoculars come in all price ranges as you can see so pick the set that suits your camera buff (or yourself) and 'give it a shot'!

Digital Camera Tripods and Photo Wands

Photo wands and digital camera tripods are unique gifts that only a camera buff would appreciate.

For those times when you need someone to take a picture for you or you want to do a self-portrait and no one's around, there's an answer! Digital camera tripods, photo wands and camera extenders are the products that you want to accomplish these tasks.

There are many different varieties to choose from and depending on the brand of camera, you can find just about any form of tripod or photo wand to suit your photographer's needs.

As you can see, there are also all different price ranges to match the different tripod or photo wand accessories as well.

These make great gifts or for a super stocking stuffer, pick up a flexible 3-legged digital camera tripod. They make filming or taking pictures a 'snap'!

Lego Digital Cameras and Other Kid's Cameras

If you have a budding photographer in your life and you need a unique gift, check out the Lego digital camera or the Fisher Price digital camera.

These are just a couple of the unique digital cameras on the market for kids.

These cameras are certainly enough to hold any child's interest while instilling a love of photography.

The Lego cameras come in many different motifs and are moderately priced for a digital camera.

The Fisher Price cameras are extremely durable and kid-tough.

There are many models that are kid friendly. They make a wonderful gift at any time of the year whether it's a Christmas gift or a birthday present.

It's a great way for a child to learn the basics of photography and have it presented in a medium they can understand.

Digital Camera Swim Mask and Waterproof Cameras

If you know someone who does a lot of scuba diving or even someone who is going on a cruise or a trip where they might be snorkeling, here are some gifts that will really make a big hit.

Again, there are all different price ranges for these products so you can choose the one that most fits your individual budget.

The digital camera swim mask basically is a set of goggles for underwater viewing with a digital camera built in. There's also a model that has a built-in camcorder for ease of recording videos while you're exploring underwater.

Underwater cameras come in all different sizes and shapes and likewise, have varying price ranges from high end to low end such as disposable underwater cameras.

Any kind of underwater camera makes an ideal gift for someone going on any sort of water bound trip such as river rafting, canoeing, snorkeling, or scuba diving.

They also work really well for ski trips and any snow activities as well because they are usually anti-freeze cameras and can be used at all temperatures and altitudes.

Digital Frame Pictures & Portable Picture Viewers

Almost anyone can enjoy digital frame pictures and portable picture viewers as you don't have to be a camera buff to have lots of digital pictures you like to share and look at.

Even pictures from your cell phone can be loaded onto these great viewers and changed frequently depending on what you want to display or who you're showing them to.

Digital frame pictures come in all sizes and motifs. You can download digital images onto them depending on the size of their memory by simply plugging them into your computer and transferring pictures. They will then play in a random fashion in the frame or you can set it to play in a certain order.

Portable digital viewers are smaller and as the word implies, portable. You can hold them in the palm of your hand.

You can load digital images on them and display them easily rather than carrying around stacks of photographs!

All digital frame pictures and viewers have different storage capacities, but all have the capacity to have photos stored on them then removed and changed to new pictures.

Even smaller down the line are the digital key chains. These make a great stocking stuffer or a low-cost gift for any occasion. Most of these store up to 50 photos and they are small enough to stuff in a pocket!

Digital Cameras of Every Kind

Digital cameras just keep getting better and better. You can buy a top-of-the-line camera or a low-end digital camera these days and still take fantastic pictures. What's even better is no film and you can shoot to your heart's delight until you get THE best picture.

There are digital cameras such as the Nikon Coolpix with a projector built in.

For those who love instant cameras, there is the Polaroid 300. You can still take instant photographs!

If you or someone you know does a lot of outdoor photography, there are many brands to choose from that are durable, waterproof and also freeze proof. Pentax makes a fantastic waterproof camera.

There are super compact digital cameras that are light as a feather and that you can carry in your pocket with ease.

There are stylish cameras, there are cameras that are also camcorders. There are digital cameras made for action shots such as the Lomography cameras.

Last but not least, there are the SLR cameras which are fantastic cameras for the serious and casual photographer alike.

You can't go wrong with a digital camera because the digital medium gives you so many possibilities in picture taking and reviewing.

Being able to download your photos instantly and share them is one of the best things to come along in the technical world so far.

Photo Gift Ideas for Camera Buffs

These are just a few ideas for great photo gifts for camera buffs.

The best way to go about selecting the proper gift for someone you know who just happens to be a camera buff is to think about what areas of photography this person would love to receive a gift for and then let your pocketbook be your guide as to what you can afford.

Books on digital photography or digital photography gadgets are also great gifts for all ages and levels of expertise.

Sometimes the simplest gift such as a digital key chain or a digital frame will spark someone's interest in digital camera equipment and you'll have many more opportunities for gifts down the road.

Likewise, the semi-experienced photographer might be wanting to go the digital route but just hasn't indulged himself or herself and the gift of a digital camera may be the best present he or she ever receives.

Whatever photography gifts you select, they are sure to be a hit as digital photography is one of the most popular hobbies these days.

Enjoy your search for the perfect gift!

CP - Thanks so much for the read and glad you liked it. I don't have any plans for underwater myself except at swim aerobics, but dang - that mask seems awfully fun to me, too!

Lela - I haven't a clue how to operate it but I guess I could try it out at swim aerobics? I know I'd make a whole lot of people REALLY mad though!!

Bayoulady - I hear you on the Lego camera - I wish my kids were wee ones so I could buy one - or two!! It would be a lot of fun and thanks for the nice comment on the layout - I was experimenting!

Sage - Wow - that is a LOT of bubble gum!! Too cute - I just love photography now that I've been messing around with it and all these things could easily end up in my shopping cart! Even a Lego camera - because you never know when I might have a grandchild, eh?

Micky - As much as you snap pictures, you owe it to yourself most definitely to get a great camera but you don't have to spend a mint.

I have a Coolpix myself which is kind of handy for slipping into my jacket if I'm snow shoeing - and the Flip video can do still shots (you just extrapolate them later from the video). My favorite though is the SLR I bought Bob for his 60th birthday but it is so heavy around my neck and if you're doing active stuff, it really gets in the way!

I'm looking at another SLR down the road someday - but then those binoculars are pretty sweet....I could buy all these things and not blink because I love taking photos and sharing them! What have I done???

Thanks for the read!

akirchner- Thank you! I will come back and study. I'm in the market for a "godd buy" on a better camera. I don't want to carry this next one around in my jersey pocket to whip out and "snapshot". I want better pics and movies. And I think this mostly may mean more memory to hold videos.

Anyway- this is a wonderful hub and I have to come back and study when I can take my time and write things down. I like the binoculars! Thank you Dear!

Great gift ideas for the photographer in your life. It always amazes me to see how far technology has come.

As a kid, my first camera was $5.00 and 500 bazooka bubble gum wrappers. These fisher price and lego digital cameras left my little bazooka film camera in the dust.

Samson - thanks so much for stopping by and for the kind comments! I happen to love photography and am late to the game but digital makes it all so much easier!

Katie - thanks so much for stopping by as always - I want some of these things myself! Now to drop the right hints....

Prasetio - isn't that amazing about the binoculars with a digital still camera? I would love to buy some of those - especially for my son as well!

BJ - as usual, you are a treasure! Come on down - or up as the case may be and between my little hand held digital, Bob's SLR and my flip video, I'm sure I can overwhelm you some more; the problem is - they're ALL good! I want some of these gadgets is the problem!!

This is the mother lode for a camera buyer to find.

I would get myself a new one but I can't decide which kind.

Nikon? Olympus, Canon? or Polaroid?

Camera overload I just can't avoid.

So out to Oregon I'll make me a trip,

And have you convince me I should buy a Flip!

Well done, ak.
