Saint Patrick's Day Party Food

Are you planning to throw a party in honor of Saint Patrick's Day this year? If so, it's sure that the focal point of the evening is likely to involve green beer in some way shape or form.

Unless you want to have a really bad hangover on March 18, however, it's in your best interest to diversify the menu to include some non-liquid refreshment.

There are a number of different fun and festive foods you can serve to celebrate St. Paddy's Day. Just keep your menu in touch with the theme of the traditional Irish celebration, and you're sure to enjoy an evening to remember.

Irish Soda Bread

If you're feeling adventurous, you may want to try baking Irish soda bread from scratch. Personally, I believe baking mixes were invented just to keep us from having to ever partake in scratch baking! I love to cook, but baking is not my idea of fun.

That's why I use Irish Soda Quick Bread mixes any time I have the urge to serve this dense, tasty bread. It's idea for any Irish them occasion, as well as any time you're looking for a hearty bread to serve alongside stew, chili, or vegetable soup.

Irish Cheese Assortment

No matter what the occasion, fruit and cheese trays tend to be very popular party nibblers. If you're looking for something uniquely Irish to accompany your Irish Soda Bread, think about setting up a cheese board populated with delicious gourmet Irish cheeses.

As far as preparation goes, it doesn't get any easier than assembling a cheese tray. Even though cheese trays are easy to put together, they're always visually impressive and tasty.

There are many tasty Irish cheese varieties, including:

  • Cashel Blue
  • Irish Green Wax Cheddar
  • Dubliner
  • Cahills with Guinness
  • Many others

Sausages, Irish Banger of Course

One delightful way to celebrate the culinary traditions of Ireland at your St. Patrick's Day party is by serving up hearty servings of Irish Banger sausages. A great conversation starter as well as a tasty treat, these sausages just may become the focal point of your party feast.
