Whoa! I've been growing in the middle for too many years now. Time to be a kid again....

Rats, I flunked the quiz. Laughed at some of the squibb jokes though.

When is Fokk going to have a big reunion party?

Oh.. it has been so long since my son was into Halloween so all I can say is that you did a great job on the masks for adults, drbj.

One thing..you reminded me why I like "The Silence of the Lambs"

I did not do well on your quiz at all..lol.

drbj, Leave it to you to write a totally unique hub. The masks are scary and I got all the answers wrong, probably because I am a bit of a wimp and don't watch scary movies very often, although I was quite fond of Alfred Hitchcock moves. The hub was good however, voted up!

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Sad but true, Lela, growing in the middle seems to be associated with growing older. Hopefully, it is also compensated for by growing wiser.

Delighted you enjoyed the corny squibs. I need laughter almost as much as peanut M&Ms.

Wouldn't it be great to do a Fokking reunion? Thanks for the idea. I will be following up with more Fokking hubs - just waiting for the "aha" creative moment.

I'm happy you felt like a kid again reading those corny jokes. Makes my day.

Truth is, Violet Sun, from the looks of your avatar, you still look like a beautiful youngster!

Wow! My hub creation scared Chris? The man whose muscles have muscles? Unbelievable.

My pleasure.

drbj profile image

Thanks for the nice comments, Melinda. I enjoyed "Silence of the Lambs" too. The first one. That Hannibal Lecter was truly scary.

Sorry you didn't score 100%, but don't fret. I only knew two of the answers myself before I did the research. :)

Amy - I don't believe that "youth" has been "long gone" in your case. You write with too much originality and spontaneity to be anything but young ... forever.

And I'm with you - I have always been a Halloween fan both through my enjoyment and vicariously that of my children.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Wow, Pamela! "totally unique" and "voted up"! It doesn't get much better than that. Thank you.

Re the quiz, my biggest surprise was learning that the very first "Frankenstein" movie was only 16 minutes long. And I totally agree - Hitchcock was the master of suspense. He didn't need blood and gore to make us afraid of the dark side.

Ha..boo. Nice Halloween hub drbj. I must admit I giggled at the little squibs. I also must admit I only got about half the quiz right. I also must admit, I'm not excessively large in the middle..I eat right and try to stay active.

Thanks for the laughs.

saddlerider1 profile image

Well it must be my dark side coming out I them all right. I guess I watched to many scary movies, good memory. As for scariest mask I would choose the Vampire.

I loved Halloween when I was younger, growing older, I just love to see the zombies walk and stalk the streets for victims. I splashed some lamb blood on my door, do you think that will keep them away?:0)) or just being a Vampire should do it for them.

Great hub, entertaining while I sipped the blood dripping from my latest victims neck.

Those masks look like a couple of my friends!

I totally flunked the quiz because I don't 'do' horror. I have a delicate constitution as we all know so I tend to stay away from things that might mar me for life - like life! ha ha

Seriously - I loved the jokes...may try and write those on my hand for spontaneous joke telling in the swim aerobics class and will try to remember to use waterproof ink - or mascara!

Hi, timorous. Boo backatcha! Delighted you had some laughs and giggles - that's payment enough. Getting half right on the quiz is above average - these are not the most well-known horror movie facts. Thanks for the visit.

You mentioned "staying active." Reminds me that my grandmother decided to be more active and started walking 5 miles a day. It's been a whole week now and we don't know where the h**l she is! (Oldie but goody joke).

drbj profile image

Oh, Dimi, surely you jest. Your face as a Halloween mask? No way. It could be a model for Clooney, though. Not George. His father! Sorry - not my fault you're the one who gave me an opening. :)

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

I agree, Ken, the Vampire mask is really gruesome. Reminds me of my blind date last week. Looked just like that. He said we were going to dinner and let me off at Burger King while he parked the car. Told me to go in and order anything I wanted. So I ordered a cab!

You sprinkled real blood on your door for Halloween? Wow, you really get into the spirit of things!

Thank you, always exploring, for gracing this hub with a poem. I'm honored. This one's for you:

Halloween is the best holiday for mommies by far,

You get to eat your kids' excess chocolate bar.

And if you're quick you can stash in your knickers,

Three or four of those great little Snickers.

drbj profile image

drbj profile image

Yes, Alexandra, horror films are a great form of escapism. No matter how tough life problems may seem, they seldom, perish forbid, match the horror in those movies.

Thanks for enjoying my hoary humor - you're my kind of fan.

Thanks for your gracious comments. Somehow I knew you would appreciate that Windows 7 cartoon.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

So, Audrea, you have some friends (looking like scary masks) that look like some of my friends? What a coincidence.

You don't do horror, I know, that would be too dangerous for your delicate psyche and fragile constitution. Am I talking about the ak we both know and love?

Delighted beyond reason that you appreciated my humor - those were some of my best. Well, maybe not my very best, but this is a mixed company venue.

That's a great idea about using mascara to write jokes on your hand when in swim class. What brand do you use? The mascara I use is supposed not to run but when I see a sentimental movie like "Silence of the Lambs", it runs all over my eyes and I look like Vampira. Remember her?

Thanks for the visit, m'luv, and the endearing commentary.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

lorlie - you think my jokes are terrible? You mean terribly funny, right? or terribly humorous, right?

Oh, well, if they tortured and drove your husband batty, then I guess we're even.

Because I still love you, here's a two-part one to really drive him up the wall: "Where do you find a no-legged dog?"

Give up? "Right where you left him."

"What do you do with a no-legged dog?"

"You take him for a drag!"

lorlie6 profile image

lorlie6 5 years ago from Bishop, Ca

drbj,I'll pick 'terribly humorous!'

Touche, my friend, do take a gander at the silliness to come your way sooner than you'd expect:

What do you call a no-legged, no-armed man at your doorstep?

Mat.

What do you call a no-legged, no-armed man in the ocean?

Bob.

Now THOSE are terrible!

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Hi, Rebecca. If you want to feel kid-like again, just put on a costume and a mask that completely hides your identity and go trick or treating in a neighborhood that is not your own. Guaranteed to produce a few treats.

Thanks for the hub loving.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Hi, hello. I can make you an expert at this quiz. Take it again and answer every question with the "a" selection. I guarantee you will get 100$ correct. :)

Your ex would scare a mask? Now that is really scary! Good thing you traded him in.

katiem2 profile image

katiem2 5 years ago from I'm outta here

WOW I got 70% on the quiz. Interesting as I'm not a big scream queen, but these oldies and great horror flicks are ones I know a bit about.

I have a scary halloween mask like the ones featured that I slip over my mail box post, it requires a staple so's not to get blown off, but it looks really cool and creepy.

So there are more than one use for the scary spooky gross and monster face mask for adults. Happy Halloween everyone and many spooky returns!

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Hi, Jane. Just realized I hadn't responded to you promptly; please forgive me. I'm delighted to learn that the folks in Australia may have picked up on one of our most fun holidays. Halloween can be celebrated by youngsters and folks of all ages. And the "treat" part is fun. Glad you liked the scary masks.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

That's a very respectable score, katie, you are more knowledgeable than most about these older scary movies. If you ever doubted the money-making ability of this type of film, I have to share with you that the multiplex near my home has 24 theaters. Right now, two weeks before Halloween, there are horror or fright films in 14 of those theaters. Amazing!

That's a great idea about covering your mailbox with a scary mask. That's one way to scare the mail delivery person from bringing you unwanted bills.

Happy, happy Halloween to you, too, and your daughter.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Hi, prasetio. Happy you like these scary masks. Tell me, is Halloween celebrated in your neck of the woods? If not, you could always start the tradition by dressing in costume, running around your neighborhood trick or treating and at the same time handing out brochures explaining the customs of Halloween so you don't get arrested for disturbing the peace.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Wow, papernotes, that would give me a fright, too. As you point out, the mask by itself is not terrifying but when someone wearing it sneaks up behind you, that's SCARY! Curious, are you still seeing that misogynistic guy friend?

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Thanks for enjoying the jokes, sheila. I've got a million of them. Can't blame you for not enjoying being scared. Do you ever attend horror films? They have become very big money-makers for Hollywood these days.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Very funny, Christoph, my "only apologizing for one bad joke". I like your sense of humor, though. It would easily override any scary face. Which I doubt you possess.

Thanks for the visit and the "fun hub" comment. I aim to please.

drbj profile image

drbj 5 years ago from south Florida Author

Happy Halloween to you, too, Jim. If you start writing a scary hub now you should have plenty of time until next All Hallow's Eve. And one is never too old to dress up in a costume - even if it's only to beg "treats" from one's neighbors.

Hi, AC. delighted to have entertained you as well as increased your knowledge of horror lore.

If you can't comfortably wear a mask, just buy a very long-haired wig, put it on backwards, and go to Halloween costume parties as "Itt." Remember him?/her? from "The Addams Family" TV show?

Oh, wait, you're way too young for that one - back in the Pleistocene era. Thanks for visiting and commenting, m'dear. You are always welcome.
