Unique, Edible Valentine's Day Gifts for Her

Source

Giving gifts for Valentine's Day is not an easy task for many men and women. Whether you're not a fan of the traditional gifts or you're simply trying to give a brand new gift this year, a one of a kind edible gift can be a great option. You can give an edible bouquet, a unique homemade goodie such as red velvet donuts, or a special drink. With so many choices, it is not hard to find something that fits the bill. Look for items to purchase or take it up and notch and give a handmade gift. Happy Valentine's Day!

Candy and Fruit Bouquets

If you're going to give a bouquet that isn't going to last forever, why not make it one that you can eat? Candy and fruit bouquets are both popular options for Valentine's Day. Keep in mind that a fruit bouquet must be kept refrigerated and consumed in a short period of time. A candy bouquet will last a little longer. There are lots of options for purchasing these bouquets around the holiday. You can also make your own.

Cake Pops

I'm not sure if cake pops are really considered a unique edible gift anymore, but that may be due to the fact that I read so many food blogs. It's an unfamiliar concept to many people. You can turn cake pops into another bouquet option or you can simply present a handful wrapped up on a platter or in a basket.

Alcohol

When you're gifting alcohol for Valentine's Day, consider a local place or a particular brewery or winery that has some specific significance for you and your partner (i.e. you took a brewery tour together there when you were first dating). Choosing a favorite brew or wine can also go a long way. A locally brewed pale ale is much more likely to be well received than generic 6 pack.

There are so many great local breweries and wineries where you can shop for Valentine's Day alcohol gifts!

Hot Chocolate, Tea, and Coffee

Are you with someone who really enjoys hot chocolate, tea, and/or coffee? You can gift hot chocolate mixes, hot chocolate in a jar, tea bags, loose tea, coffee beans, ground coffee, and more. A new mug also makes a great gift. Look for a new kind of drink that might appeal or stick with a classic favorite.

Marshmallow Pops

Marshmallow pops are all the rage these days, and they are so easy to make. Dip the marshmallow in the melted chocolate / candy melt of your choice, add some sprinkles or jimmies, and stick the marshmallow on a wooden skewer or a paper straw. As soon as the chocolate /candy melt hardens, you can package the pop up for gift giving. You can also decorate marshmallow pops more elaborately in a fashion similar to cake pops. If you make a bunch, you can opt to bundle them in a bouquet and gift them in a little vase. Of course they are readily available in many bakeries, too.

Red Velvet Donuts

Once upon a time I would have said that red velvet donuts would probably be a seasonal item. As red velvet desserts have become so popular in the last few years, you are likely to find them anywhere at any time from the grocery store to a high-end local bakery. If there is a bakery that you've always wanted to check out and your significant other enjoys donuts, use this as an excuse to make a little excursion there.

Popcorn

If your significant other would prefer a salty edible gift over a sweet gift, popcorn is a great choice. Stick to one of the classic flavors such as cheese or caramel or look for something with a Valentine's Day flare such as red candy drizzle and seasonal M&M's. You can even dye the popcorn red. Of course there are lots of recipes available online. Package your homemade popcorn in a colorful gift tin.

Fortune Cookies

Nothing puts a smile on someone's face quite like a fortune cookie. One of the fun parts about making your own cookies or purchasing Valentine's Day-specific cookies is writing clever messages for the holiday. There is a ton of inspiration for this concept online.

Edible Gift in a Jar

As the mason jar trend has exploded the past couple years, there is no shortage of edible gift in a jar ideas out there. Choose from snacks, dessert mixes, pre-made cakes and cookies, and much more. There are lots of Valentine's Day mason jar ideas, but you can customize virtually any edible jar gift concept to fit the holiday. Don't forget about the packaging as well. A cute jar lid or gift tag goes a long way.

Some interesting ideas here. I know a few businesses in Australia who are doing candy bouquets in a big way for Valentine's Day this year. Voted useful ;)

Love all these ideas! My family is all about the marshmallow and cake pops right now. We've been making them whenever we can and plan to give them out for Valentine's Day. I like the idea for beer, tea and coffee for those who are not big on the sweets. I want to give that box made from chocolate a try, too.

boutiqueshops, you'll have to send him a not-so-subtle email with a link. :)

Cyndi, thanks! You're right that most of these ideas are very versatile. They're definitely not limited to female significant others.
