Unique Gifts - What to get the Person who has Everything

This is for that person on your list who is always difficult to buy for. The person who at every holiday season you just throw up your hands in despair. They always buy you the coolest and most thoughtful gifts. Everyone has one or two people like that on their list. Maybe it its your boss, or your favorite aunt. Or maybe it is your grandparents. But they have everything and you do not. What can you get the person who has everything?

Save A Speicies!

Time to think outside the box! There are several organizations that accept donations in leiu of a person. You could make a donation to a cause that the person that has everything is interested in. If their passion is animals then take a look at the World Wildlife Federation Fund. You can symbolically adopt an animal. The top ten animals that are adopted at this time are the polar bear, the Amur Leopard, Sea Turtle, Snow Leopard, Grey Wolf, Emperor Penguin, Vampire Bat and Black Jaguar. There are 90 other animals to choose from. You can choose to adopt for 50 dollars, 100 dollars, and 250 dollars. Each adoption kit comes with its own package. The more you donate the more you receive. the smallest package give you information about the animal. The 100 dollar package gives you a stuffed animal and information. The recipient can be notified electronically of the adoption. You can also just donate to the WWF and the recipient can choose what animal to adopt.Check out the website for more information.

Perhaps you do not want to adopt an animal? If you check out the the gift catalog online you will discover many many wondrous things for your special someone. You can make crafts such has bracelets or very nice table runners. This is not children's stuff here !

You can also make a donation for the conservation of land from the Rainforest to the Great Plains! With your donation you can receive a picture in a bamboo frame of the habitat you are saving.

Smithsonian Museum of Natural History

For the person who has everything , a membership to the Smithsonian Museum might be appropriate.Memberships can be very pricy up to 10,000 dollars. But a cheaper membership will get the persons name on a plaque on the wall.  If you are like me then you are thinking a subscription to the Smithsonian Magazine will be more appropriate. Donations can also be made in the person's name starting at 35 dollars.

Take time to look at the Smithsonian Gift Shop in line., It hosts a wide range of unique gifts! Maybe your intended recipient is a history buff! The Smithsonian offers unique trinkets, Toys and jewelry. Where else can you find a cat fan! There are plenty of puzzles and science kits in the Toy section.

Give the GIft of Money

Money never goes out of Style.  Visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing website to order a gift of money.  Perhaps a sheet of uncut dollar bills or  a collector kit of uncirculated 20 dollar bills under the lucky money tab.  Maybe you would want a copy of the Gettysburg Address  or look into the National Treasures Collection.  Take a look to see if there is something there for the person who has everything!

Buy a Gift Certificate for a Class

Perhaps your friend or family member has always talked about taking that pottery class or photography class. Purchase gift certificates for them to finally attend the class! Go to your local community college or art center to find out the next available schedule for upcoming classes!  Another good place to look is your local craft stores like AC Moore or Micheal's.

Buy Movie Ticket Certificates

This might be the most easy thing of all.  Everyone goes to the movies now and then. Go to your local theater and [purchase gift certificates that can be used at your friends leisure.  Be sure to include tow tickets so he can invite you to go! You can put the certificates in a basket with popcorn and candy for effect!

Triple A Membership

You can never have too much protection .  A Basic Triple A membership will allow you to have a  24 hour roadside assistance and an opportunity for them to help with travel plans.  It is a practical gift that runs little over 60 dollars for years membership.  Take a look at the website for more information!

The Gift of Giving

Give the the Gift of Charity.  There are several charitable organizations that would love to receive money especially during the holiday season.  You can easily make a charitable contribution in someone else's name.  What a loving gift that would be! Look at the link below to find out details on charitable organizations.

For the Gardener

For the Gardener in your life there are a ton of Seed or plant of the month clubs out there.  Find one that fits your price range and give the gift that keeps on giving.  Imagine your family member delight when they discover they will be receiving a plant or seed every month over the next year!  A few of the sites I found are listed below!

First Aid Kits or safety kits

The last thing we probably think about this holiday season is safety. But isn't it a neat gift to give someone that has everything? The American Red Cross sell some First aid kits and other safety kits at reasonable prices. You can purchase a kit through them and help out the organization!.

Helpful Hub...Gave me some ideas for those friends I always have a hard time buying Christmas presents...Your Smithsonian membership idea got me to thinking about a particularly difficult-to-buy-for friend that is heavily into politics as a liberal activist...I'm buying her a membership in the ACLU...maybe a close-up association with this organization will peel the blinkers off her eyes...Thanks, Larry
