What Will You Give Up For Lent?
What Will You Give Up For Lent?
There are only a few days until the start of Lent, Ash Wednesday. Lent lasts forty weekdays until Easter, so for 2012, we are looking at February 22- April 8. During this time, Christians should give up something to sacrifice (like Jesus did for us; although, He made the ultimate sacrifice).
Regardless of your faith, I think we all could give up something during this time period. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right?
I am going to forgo soda (aka “pop” for my Western Pennsylvanian friends) since I drink it every day. With all of the extra unnecessary calories and sugar, it sure won’t hurt, right? Wish me luck!
Traditions are also important for me to build with my family; young children may not be able to understand the whole giving up and sacrifice ideas, but they can certainly learn from your example and say daily prayers for what they are thankful for as well!
Good luck whether you chose to participate in Lent or not!

Lent For Children

A great resource for children! They don’t emphasize “giving up something” for Lent, but rather to thank God daily for what they have!
