Weddings are full of symbolism and tradition, all to ensure the smooth running of the big day and to ensure the longevity, love, success and baby making are all covered in good luck.

Wedding anniversaries carry on those wedding traditions and the gifts shared by Husbands and wives on their special day also has symbolism and tradition to ensure the happiness and future success of their marriage.

With wedding anniversaries though the traditional gifts are slowly evolving and although some traditional gifts still remain the same there are now modern day alternatives to some of them, giving couples a larger scope when buying their other half an anniversary gift.

It is widely known, in Great Britain, that when a person reaches one hundred years old, he/she receives a telegram from the Queen or as the case may be in the near future the King.

These days although still called a telegram the recipient actually receives a birthday card when they reach the age of one hundred and every year there after.

It is not so well known though that when a couple reach their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, Sixty years of Mariage, they also receive a "Telegram" from the Queen and they receive a card every five years after that for other major milestone wedding anniversaries.
