Apple Sauce Bread

I love this recipe. It reminds me of baking with my Grandmother and it's delicious. I make this for Christmas and Thanksgiving. I love home made breads of almost any kind but I say this is on my top ten list.

2 cups of high altitude Hungarian flour

3 teaspoons of baking powder

3/4 teaspoons of salt

1/2 cup of Crisco {solid not oil}

1 cup of sugar

2 eggs {well beaten}

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 1/2 cup of apple sauce {motts is my preference}

1 cup of chopped nuts

Sift together flour,baking powder and salt

In a sererate bowl cream crisco,sugar and well beaten eggs now add lemon juice and apple sauce.

add in dry ingredients stirring only enough to moisten flour.

add nuts and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes

Remember to grease your loaf pan but do not flour

then let cool and enjoy.

We usually put Cool Whip on top or server with ice cream . I think you are gonna love this one.

"high altitude Hungarian flour" caught my attention :)

i love anything with apples in it. it always adds a nice moist dimension and a sweetness that is not overpowering. i make this spicy pumpkin bread around Thanksgiving and serve it with cream cheese with crushed pineapple in it. people go crazy over it. nice hub!
