What is your way of celebrating Christmas? What gives you the most fun at Christmas?

I live in Australia so how I celebrate Christmas is a bit different from say a New Yorker. This is not the time of year to go sun baking and swimming in the northern hemisphere but it is summer in the southern hemisphere. We have barbecues and cold beers on Christmas day whereas something to warm you up might be called for in other locales. Hey! Global community here! I am sure the differences will be fascinating as well as the things we have in common.

For me it used to be watching the kids open their presents and then spending the next few days with them at home playing with all their new toys. Now that they are older, there are no more toys but we still enjoy spending a few days together with family, mostly eating, drinking and playing the newest video games. Life is so busy it just feels great to spend some quality time at home together as a family. Entertaining guests is also high on the list.

Hi Well I live in Florida and my windows have been open for almost three weeks during the day. It has been quite warm this fall and now our second day of winter is supposed to be 80 again
Tonight I am going to a family dinner and cookie decorating party.
Tomorrow night we are going to a Christmas eve crab boil. We will be eating outside with two campfires gong in our portable 'fireplaces.'
What gives me the most fun is making something special for someone, baking tons of Christmas cookies and other foods we do not have the rest of the year, and getting to hug the necks of those we love.
And I want to come to Australia for Christmas one year. I have always always wanted to come there. Enjoy your celebration...

We usually go to church on Christmas Eve, bundled against the snow, although no snow this year really.  Then we come home and we open gifts.  When my daughters were young, we opened gifts from family and friends after church on Christmas Eve and then the Santa gifts on Christmas morning.

Then we would go to church on Christmas morning and then dinner at home or someone else's house.

This year we will go to my younger daughter's house on Christmas Eve to open gifts.  Changing things up as they get older and have their own families.

I too have always wondered how other family in other parts of the world celebrate the Holidays. I live in Hawai'i and here we have a lot of family. My husband's side and my side. If the families were making parties its even harder because we would be invited to all..we try to make all of the parties or sometimes we would go to who ever had asked us first. I wish I lived were it snowed. My children are getting a little bigger (5 & 3 nextyear) soo then we can start making Christmas traditions and all. I love the Holidays brings Families closer together.
