Mother's day gifts from my only child, Michael are always special to me and I do not have one particular gift that stands out. What does stand out it is the day itself. We have a tradition in our house on Mother's day, Father's Day and birthdays; The house is ruled by you! Like on Mother's day, Michael takes my order for breakfast, just like a waiter and him and Mark fix me breakfast. After that, I pick the activities for the day and where we go and the whole deal. It usually ends up in a game of scrabble because my family hates to play with me because I am hard to beat so this is the one day of the year I can make them play it with me. :) I usually get a gift that is something I have been wanting, but it is the actual day itself that I enjoy the most. Now that Michael is 19 and looking to join the military, this Mother's day will be extra special. I may not see him for a few years and that will be hard, but he will be serving his country and for that I am proud of him. I have found the older I get the more it is about the time spent together, not the gift itself. For the first time in my life I understand when my 71 year old father says, don't buy me anything let's just get together! He just wants to spend time with his family, and so do I. Enjoy your Mother's day this year and try to start a new tradition.
