A long time ago I ran away from home. I was 12/13 years old at the time. I was very lucky to have encountered several generous people along the way. This was during the early 70s and I was hitch hiking quite a bit. Things could have turned out very badly for a young teen runaway, but I was fortunate enough to encounter people who literally saved my life.
One man bought me a bus ticket so I wouldn't have to hitch hike. Several people bought me meals.
The most generous of all, took me under his wing and gave me a job. He was an "older" man that became a father to me. He could have taken advantage of me, but instead, he taught me more of life than anyone I had ever met.
If not for the generosity of these people during that very troubled time in my life, I would not be alive today. I am convinced of that and I wish I could thank them all.
