It is generally accepted that the Welsh National costume evolved in the late 1700s. The Welsh National Dress though is only for females. There have been attempts to create a welsh kilt for the men but this has not really taken off.
A welsh woman's national costume tends to be a tall black hat, a little like a man's stove pipe hat. A white lacy cap is worn underneath this hat. The costume also includes a full check patterned skirt, a shawl, a white starched apron, black...... read more

Welsh rugby was pretty much in the doldrums through the late nineties and well into the first couple of years after the millennium. In fact the last time a Welsh team had won a Six Nations Grand Slam title was back in 1978 when Welsh rugby was in a golden age.

The late Richard Burton, CBE, was a fine actor. He was world class and world famous but for more than his acting. As a hard living man Richard was one of many famous celebrities who have battled the booze. He was also famous as being one of Elizabeth Taylor's husbands.
Their love affair, at the time, was fast and furious. They starred together in blockbuster films such as Cleopatra, and had an on screen chemistry among the tears and tantrums. Taylor and Burton divorced and re-married each other read more

Prince Charles is not a Welshman. However, he is the current Prince of Wales. I wonder how much this must stick in the throat's of Welsh people. Perhaps they are royalists and proud of him, but I doubt it.My Mum was a great royalist and I well remember the investiture of Prince Charles, back in 1969.These days the British Royal Family seem to get a mixed reception.
