Our Daughter's Birthday Party at our Backyard

For me, the best place to hold a party is at our backyard. Our house is too small to accommodate a lot of people, especially children; it is wise to have the party outside at our backyard. You don't need to transport all your foods and games somewhere else; when your backyard is good enough for the occasion.

I will feature a few of my daughter's birthday parties at our backyard; where children can run around, play some games and as free as they can be, no worries that they could bumped into a lot of things and hurt themselves inside the house. Backyard is the best place to be. We rented chairs and borrowed some tables from our neighbors and everything were set for the backyard party.

This was one of our parties at the backyard. The weather was perfect, it was not hot considering it was in July.

Playing before the party starts

Our guest went directly to our backyard to play games. This will occupy them before the party started. Young and old alike play together and having fun time outside.

Children needs a lot of running around and the backyard is the best place to have them. There is a little drawback though, see to it the that the weather is good or have some tent ready in case the rain comes. We've been having my child's birthday party at our backyard for few years now.

Our daughter will always remember how fun it was having her birthday party at our backyard.

The Food!

Foods were kept inside so that it will stay warm and free from flies and other insects. Our guest will just go inside to get food and go back in the backyard to enjoy them.

This is our main attraction the "Pabitin" game for children.

The "Pabitin" Game

Pabitin is a Tagalog term which means dangling or hanging. Traditional Filipino game used in birthday parties.

Wide space for games

This game is called, "Pabitin" in Tagalog language, which means hanging or dangling. Kids will jump to catch and pull whatever their hands could grab. This has been our favorite last game of our party, which signals the culmination of the event.

"Pabitin" is a variant of Mexican" Penata". Pabitin's gifts are in plastic sack and tied with string and attached to the "pabitin" board.

Kids Love to Jump!

"Pabitin" is the most awaited game in our party. I made them when we started to have our daughter's birthday party at our backyard. Besides from kids give-aways, they will have another sets of gifts. Kids should take turn to grab a thing or things in the "Pabitin". They should do it by jumping and reaching for the dangling gifts. I hung a variety of items in the "Pabitin", candies, toys for boys and girls, school supplies and so forth. Kids do look forward for this game.

Our Daughter 9th Backyard Birthday Party

The most awaited game...

I hand made this "Pabitin" using a long pole from an old mop. Wrapped it in colored paper. I also built a square frame from a board and cover it with colored paper. I then hung all the toys and candies using colored strings. Children loved them! This is my improvised version of the "Pabitin".

The Pabitin

My husband was the hardest "Pabitin" holder of them all. He made all the kids jump high and to really work hard to get their prize.

More Fun!

This must be my daughter's 7th backyard birthday party.

With her friends

This was the early years of our "Pabitin"...

More Pabitin!

I have to climbed in a small slide to be able to pull up the "Pabitin".
