I submit this article for your perusement...

""You understand so well that African-Americans, women, and members of the LGBT community have been poorly served throughout history," Newkirk writes, "and now I am asking you to consider other living beings who are ridiculed, belittled, and treated as if their sentience, feelings, and very natures count for nothing.""

I've never understood this pardoning business, I mean, it's not as though they have broken the law or committed adultery or anything. What are they being pardoned for, what was the offence??

They were born being a turkey. That is a felony in 37 states and the District of Columbia. And not only that; they are birds, but can't even fly; and that is a felony in 47 states.

I guess the drama-filled queen of PETA will NOT have a happy Thanksgiving, huh?  roll

All is well enough.  I'm slower, but alive and kickin' and I thank God for every day.   Thanks for asking.  I hope all is well with you too.  smile

And thank you for the compliment.

While I am tempted to take this thread in a different political direction by identifying some humans who have, of late, made turkeys of themselves, I will refrain.

    I don't generally agree with PETA's tactics.
However, I do have to wonder if the annual presidential turkey pardoning is outdated and should be discontinued.

Happy Thanksgiving to all -- however you choose to celebrate.

P.S. Para, I cannot imagine anyone finding a more magnificant turkey picture. I therefore cast my vote for yours.

Take this thread wherever you wish. I am fine with that. Frankly, I am surprised that my op excerpt did not already do so.

What's that old saying, "I didn't want to dignify the comment with an answer!"?
But hey, if others want to compare turkeys to African-Americans, LGBTs and women -- they are more than welcome to have at it.
