Happy New Year!
Shubh Nava Varsh!
Today is the New Year day for Indians. It is the first day of Vikram Samvat according to lunar calendar of India. Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the first day of the bright half of Indian lunar month Chaitra is the New Year day according to Vikram Samvat.
It is also the first day of Chaitra Navratri.
I wish all of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
@Thisisoli and Dame Scribe,
Thanks for wishing Happy New Year. People know about Chinese New year in general other than English one. I just wanted to spread words about Indian New Year.
Hey! This is really neat--I didn't know about this.
Happy New Year to you too! I hope you have a great year and lots of success
And I, too, wish you a happy New Year.
Here, spring is struggling to emerge after a deeply cold winter, and for me, it is right for the new year to begin now with seeds going into the soil and long walks with the dog on warmish nights.
Thank you for sharing. Best wishes to you and yours.
Indian New year starts in the spring. Spring is "Basant" in Indian languages. Navratri also starts from this day and this Navratri is called Basant Navratri or Chaitra navratri.
I have written few hubs about the same and you can visit those to know more.
