I so dread the noise of New Year's Eve tonight

No, I'm not against people celebrating the New Year, but I hate all the noise.  My little dog goes bananas when she hears all the bangs.  I have to give her tranquilizers.  My neighbors shoot their fire crackers all night long!

Ugh, at least they aren't firing rifles off all day long.

We have rented a film and will be turning the sound up VERY LOUD to drown out the sound of fireworks, otherwise the dog will be stuck to the ceiling all evening.

I don't know why people have to set off firecrackers for every single holiday. Around here we usually do it on Victoria Day and there are random bangs for the next week after.

It goes on here too all day and tomorrow as well and it really gets on my nerves and scares my cat! It is mostly boys that do it here! Such a waste of money and so annoying!

I feel fortunate enough to live in the sticks then. I haven't had to many annoying neighbors firing them off around us. If they did, my dog would go nuts too. She hates the noise. A movie sounds like a great idea for ringing in the New Year.

    Well, folks. It's started...

"Police: More cars set afire in LA, arson suspected"

"Seven or eight cars burned Saturday in the North Hollywood area, said officer..."

That scares the hell out of me! There have been fires all over the place since then. Here come the copycat socio and psycho paths.

Most years (including this year) it is too dry in South Texas, so we are under restrictions to prevent fire.  Fire works can only be shot off in designated areas. We just go out in the back yard, and we can see the fireworks from Six Flags- with minimal noise.

I'm glad it's not just me...  It's BRUTAL in my neighborhood.  We have a shingle roof and I fear my house will catch on fire with all the lit debris falling from the sky.  My neighbors are out of control.

I feel like the Grinch sometimes...  This video is fitting:

It's get loud around here too, but actually this year, I don't mind. I think we're all ready to welcome a new year! I was just out for a while and everyone is so upbeat and friendly.  I'm going out with a friend this evening, but will be back before midnight, so I can comfort my dog!

I get to celebrate new year's eve working until mid night at a gas station warding off stupid idiotic teenagers intent upon lighting the town on fire.

    Lovely.

It's the good ole' "Ashton isn't married/doesn't have kids and therefore must not have a life. Oh, I have an idea. Let's have her work ALL holidays off the year!"
That's my venting for the day.

On a positive note....Happy New Year! smile

I'm with you Mary! I don't oppose the idea, but not everyone stays up in anticipation of hearing gunshots/firecrackers. You can definitely celebrate without invading the routines of the rest of us.

It's 9pm here and I have no idea whether there will be any local revelry.

I'm at home on my own and working. As far as I am concerned, this is an evening just like any other. The fact a number changes on the calendar has no significance for me whatsoever.

I don't mind the sound of fireworks on New Year's Day, as it doesn't last long.  It is the weeks running up to Bonfire Night on November 5th that can be a little too much.

It's 9:18 PM here in S. Fl. and the noise has started.  I just gave my little dog, Baby, a pill.  Hopefully she will go to sleep, but I doubt it.  I just hope this doesn't last all night!

Happy New Year Mary,  and I hope it doesn't disturb you dog too much, I know what you mean, our dogs used to go mad at the noise.

We survived!  It was a rough night, though.  I couldn't sleep for all the noise, neither did Baby (even with her pill).  I put in ear plugs, but I could still hear the noise.  Tonight, my neighbors will be shooting off the left over firecrackers:  they always do that.  Happy New Year to you too!
