The popular manga and anime series from Japan, Sailor Moon, has become a world-wide phenomenon. Now you can dress up as your favorite Sailor Scout - Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus - for Halloween!

Sailor Moon - Manga, Anime, and Live-Action Franchise

Sailor Moon (or as it is translated from Japanese, Pretty Soldier Sailormoon), is a franchise created by manga artist Naoko Takeuchi. The story follows 14 year old Usagi Tsukino, who is transformed into Sailor Moon, a guardian of the Earth and later the galaxy.

Sailor Moon's friends, the Sailor Senshi, battle the forces of Dark Kingdom, who destroyed the Kingdom of the Moon, long ago. They are aided by the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. Each Sailor is named for a planet in the solar system, including Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter, along with a corresponding trait.

The original manga series spanned 52 chapters and ran from 1991 to 1995. The anime series ran for 200 episode, from 1992 to 1997. There were also five animated shorts, and three theatrically released films: Sailor Moon R: the Movie, Sailor Moon S: The Movie, and Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie. There was also a live-action series in 2003.

During a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, Takeuchi announced a reboot of the Sailor Moon anime series was in production, with broadcasting beginning in 2013. A revised edition of the manga series began to be republished in 2011, with fourteen volumes in all.
