Poem for Mother's Day

Mother's Day Poem

Although I don't normally write poetry, I thought this would be a nice touch for Mother's Day. I was actually surprised the words to this poem came so easily. The time taken from idea to finished product was a little over twenty minutes. I was going to bed one night when the words came to me. I immediately put them to paper so that I wouldn't forget the poem when I woke up the next morning. Poems don't normally come so easily to me. Hubber The Suburban Poet has nothing to worry about. He is definitely the more talented poet.

For Mama

I see this woman so meek and mild

As she was so long ago, a child

She was once a cute little girl

With many locks of brown curls.

This woman is now a beautiful teen,

Married and Mother, not childhood between.

She has only one goal in life;

To be a great mother and wife.

Now an older woman, hair full of gray;

With six children grown, one has passed away.

Always cheerful, she's raised her brood;

I'm amazed she's never had a bad mood.

Let us not forget our place on earth

Is due to this woman giving us birth.

As we celebrate this woman each May,

Let us not forget her on Mother's Day.

Tammy, this poem brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad you mentioned at the start of the hub how this came to you. I do the same thing, when an idea pops in my head at night, I jump up and write it down. I am so glad you wrote this down so we could enjoy it. Happy Mother's Day to you, every day of the year.

Linda, thank you for your compliments. You are a blessing to all hubbers. I just hope Suburban Poet reads this because I kinda bragged on him a little. :)

Happy Mother's Day to you too. God Bless.

Dear Tammy, Wow! Great read. Voted up, awesome, beautiful, interesting. This touched me for my mom slept into heaven one year ago this past August 19th, and this hub described her to a "t." She was everything to me. And I cannot wait to see her in her perfect body with her patented smile that she gave away to family, friends, and strangers. Thank you so MUCH. Kenneth:

Thank you for your kind words. I'm sure your mom is in Heaven, smiling down on you now. I'm sure she is patiently waiting to see you again. I am grateful to the good Lord for allowing this poem to touch one person.

God Bless
