Inexpensive Valentine Day Gift Ideas

Updated on October 20, 2014

Let's Get Romantic

Valentine's Day is here again. Time to start thinking of ways to make your sweetheart know she is your one and only. That you couldn't be happy without her by your side. Does that have to cost you an arm and a leg? No, No, No. There are many ways to let your sweetie pie know you love her and will until the day you die.

Every 14th of February men are scurrying (usually at the last minute) to buy candy and flowers for their special lady. This year make it simple but make it the year she will never forget!

A Promise

A promise of Love

Valentine's Day can get rather expensive. Flowers are expensive and within a few days they have all withered and died. Chocolates can be very expensive but if your Valentine is like most women after they eat the WHOLE box they feel guilty and wish they had never seen those yummy morsels.

May I suggest an alternative. How about a Promise of Love. You can do this verbally, in a written note or on the inside of a beautiful Valentine's Day card. Express your wish to provide her with luxuries, fancy clothes and jewelry but those are not the things that provide happiness. Happiness cannot be bought. I think that is worth repeating. Happiness cannot be bought. A Promise of eternal love is forever.

Poem by Mele Luhama Piutau

Lives are for living I live for you

Dreams are for dreaming I dream for you

Hearts are for beating mine beats for you

Angels are for keeping can I keep you

Money Can't Buy You Love - Beatles Song

Remember this?

Time Together

Spending meaningful time with your loved one should be at the top of your list. Time, the day spent together, being happy no matter what you are doing. Time, feeling the closeness two people can share.

So this Valentine's Day give her the promise of loving her more, Time spent making her happy and Time spent making all of your days together days to remember.

And, if you really feel she needs a gift and you have the money to spend on her...give her the gift of Time. A watch! So that everytime she looks at that watch she remembers you. Everytime she looks at that watch she thinks of you.

Short on funds? Take a romantic walk through the local park. Bundle up, it's February. Walking hand in hand through the woods, talking and reconnecting with one another. Time, when she is the only person in the world.

Loving Kindness

Kindness is the little things we do for each other. Remember the old adage "You can get more with sugar than you can vinegar". True, so very true. Showing Kindness to your Valentine is showing love. These acts of Kindness can't be bought and are the best gifts of all.

One of the biggest acts of Kindness you could show your Valentine on Valentine's Day would be breakfast in bed. Who wouldn't love that! It doesn't have to be fancy or it could be if you choose. Some juice, an English Muffin and jam or go all out with Eggs Benedict, toast and coffee. This is something your Valentine will always remember.

Breakfast In Bed Tray

Serve your Valentine breakfast in bed...do you have a tray? It is most helpful and you can make the tray look pretty with a single rose in a bud vase.

What will you give your Valentine this year?

What are you giving your special Valentine this year?

Poem by Nicola Edmundson

If love asks a question do not deceive

For the truth is the answer I only believe

If my heart should open love do not fear

Or if my eyes in happiness shed a tear

Let the wind in my soul blow you away

And the sun in my heart brighten your day

If love and life I was asked to compare

Both of these with you I wish to share

What are some of the gifts you have given your Valentine? I'd love to hear from you.
