things I'm thankful for this year
thanksgiving 2014
This is going to be an upbeat article for once. It is time of the year to give thanks for what we have.
I have much to be thankful for. I have a loving husband who puts up with my strange behavior at times. I have had another year with my Dad. It may be his last but I will be thankful that his suffering is over. I have many friends who are so much like sisters that I don't know what I would do without them. I have two wonderful cats who love me unconditionally. I have a roof over my head, food to put in my stomach, clothes to put on and shoes on my feet. I even have my health. I have a wonderful counselor who told me that I am understanding my life more and more as I progress through our times spent together.
It took me a long time to come to realize all the above. One of my friends shared a song with me this week that drove it all home. Guy Penrod has a song entitled My view of heaven. It is on youtube. It made me realize that if I were to die, which is not in my plans, I would have another wonderful home. I give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for saving my life when I deserve to suffer.
I hope that everyone will realize how lucky we are when we really have so much to be thankful for, I can go where I want. I can wear what I want. I have a choice in life. I made a decision about 20 years ago that I am very proud of. I decided to follow Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior. He has been there for me through thick and thin. Last few years he sent me friends who have been what can only be called a gift from God. He sent me my husband who has a knowledge of Alzheimer's who can help me with my Dad.
The holiday season is not just about fancy meals and football games. It is about being thankful for the many blessings we have and to be thankful for them. We should have this spirit of love and forgiveness all year around.
the day is not just a time for fancy meals and football games. It is time to be thankful for the food and family. Happy Thanksgiving.
