Vintage and Retro Candy -Traditional Sweets in Gift Baskets

Finding special gifts for our parents and elderly relations can be a bit of a challenge when it gets close to Christmas, their birthdays, and their special anniversaries.

Because of their age, they probably have everything we may think of. They have the kitchen appliances they'll ever need, soft spot shoes for comfortable walking, knitting needles and knitting wool, cardigans and more clothes than they'll ever wear.

Presenting them with Christmas baskets and gifts full of 'candy-sweet' memories is fun, exciting for them, and one of the best seasonal gifts they'll ever receive.

Candy gift baskets make good gifts for other occasions as well, including birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and 'pick me up' presents.

They are however more popular as Christmas gifts because Christmas is about the only merrymaking and festive season when everyone is allowed to eat and drink anything they wish in quantities they desire.

Many candy and chocolate lovers attest to the fact that traditional sweets were the best produced sweets ever.

They were made with the best products that were natural, readily available with great tastes.

And even though they contained much more sugar or molasses than is good for today's generation, they weren't really bad for the health and never encouraged obesity as do the candy of today.

Vintage Sweets, the Old Fashioned Candy

Vintage candy also known as old fashioned or traditional sweets is mostly found at major candy stores online. They come packaged in boxes or gift baskets, and are wonderful candy bouquets full of old favourites and well known candy made by bespoke sweet manufacturers.

From vintage 1940s to retro 1960s sweets, each of these gift baskets or boxes contain over 50 pieces of a mix of small, medium and large sized variety of candies, boiled sweets and traditional chocolates.

Each package weighs about two and a half to three pounds and is filled with many favourites, including:

  • BB Bats
  • Bit O Honey
  • Bubble Gum Cigars
  • Canada Mints
  • C Howard Violet Gum
  • Candy Buttons
  • Candy Cigarettes
  • Charms Squares
  • Chuckles
  • Coconut Bars
  • French Chew
  • Jujubes
  • Kits Taffy
  • Long Boys
  • Pearson's Salted Nut Roll

Other hot favourites include:

  • Red Hots
  • Sen Sen
  • Smith Brothers Liquorice
  • Snaps
  • Sugar Daddy Pops
  • Teaberry Gum
  • Black Taffy
  • Bulls Eye's Caramel Creams
  • Chick O Stick Nuggets
  • Necco Assorted Wafters
  • Root Beer Barrels
  • Walnettos

. . . And finally, don't let us forget those wonderful favourites - vintage candy cigarettes.

Giving out these wonderful gifts at Christmas is a great gesture that will bring back warm nostalgic feeling of the past and their youth.

So if you know anyone born between the 1940s and the 1980s, consider presenting them with vintage candy gift baskets.

They'll love the sweet memories they evoke, and they'll probably talk about it everyday till the coming spring!

Old Fashioned Candy - Great Gifts for the Elderly

A great and interesting gift for the age group it represents, vintage candy gift baskets are also great for Easter gift ideas for the coming spring.

They will greatly enjoy reminiscing over the various gums and hard candies, and they'll be happy to see all the old fashioned sweets that they remember from when they were young kids.

Just watching the 'old school' ooh &and ah over every selection in the box is gratifying and satisfying, and can aptly be described as a fantastic Christmas gift for the elderly that's always an awesome hit.

Giving candy baskets this Christmas is an inexpensive and fun way to make people 'sweetly' 'walk' down memory lane.

So for those who are stuck for Christmas gift ideas, these gifts will thrill the recipient and their friends within the same age group.

And seeing the wonderful effect these sweet gifts have on them will call for another order of candy gifts next year, and for subsequent festive season’s gifts.

So glad you love the idea. Makes thinking of what to give the elderly so much easier. Will give them a good laugh and a sweet treat.

Thanks G for your visit.

PS: I have an alarming sweet tooth too. Practically live on sweets. Thankfully, i'm quite slim. LOL!
