How Do I Weed Through All The Junk Out There?

Great question!!

In a day in age where you are pounded daily with the next sure fire way to become rich idea. In a day where we receive at least 100 work from home and become rich overnight emails in out inbox daily. How can anyone possibly know what business opportunity to invest their valuable money and even more importantly their valuable time into?

How does a person know a real opportunity from a scam?

It can be tough, very tough, but have no fear it is possible to do, if you know where to look and even more so how to look!

This site has been designed to teach you how to recognize a scam from a legitimate opportunity!

Why can I help you with this? Well to be honest with lots of trial and error I have become an expert in the home based business world. I have created my fortune with now numerous home based businesses and I know the real deal from the garbage. I paid the price, went through the pain of dealing with the junk and now I am able to give back and help you, by showing you how to determine if an opportunity is legitimate or not.

My hope is that by time you are through this lens you will have a much clear understanding of how to locate real business opportunities!

NOTE: This site was not designed to help you find the perfect opportunity for you, but to help you determine what is real and what is not. For info on finding the perfect opportunity for you, I recommend visiting my lens on that subject

They Want Money!

If it is a work at home opportunity verses a home based business stay clear! However most business opportunities of any kind, whether home based or not are going to typically have a small start up cost associated with it.

So do not let this scare you away. <b>The old saying that you have to spend money to make money is very true!</b> Although the cost is much smaller with a homebased business I have never seen a viable opportunity that did not cost some.

I would actually be more afraid of an opportunity that did not require any start up capital. To me this would end up being a complete and utter waste of my time as I know there would be no money to be made.

Having said this, <b>make sure you do ALL of your due diligence</b> before giving anybody any money for any opportunity.

Do Your Homework

Doing your due diligence as my Father calls it, or homework as I call it is always a great idea and has saved me thousands and thousands of dollars over the years.

A few difference ways to go about that.

<b>1) Google the company you are researching.</b> Try and determine if they have a good reputation! Look for the dirt on them if there is any. See who is linking to them, typically if there is a lot of people linking to them this is a great sign, especially if the sites linking to them are credible.

See what is being said on the net about them. NOW... do not believe everything negative you see, use your better judgement to determine if the people saying the negative things are competitors of maybe disgruntled people who where lazy and did not do the work required to make it happen. Determine these two things before you listen to their advice.

<b>2) Better Business Bureau.</b> This is always an option, although if a company is not listed there it does not mean they are not legitimate. Numerous online and smaller companies do not list there.

<b>3) The Direct Selling Association.</b> If the opportunity you are looking at is in the mlm industry, this is a great resource to look into. Most mlm companies will list with this organization and if they do you are pretty much good to go as it is a big process to get listed with them. However again, if the company is not listed it does not mean they are not legitimate, especially if they are new, as it takes some time to get listed with this organization.

Word Of Mouth

<b>Word of mouth is king!</b> It can make a company or break it and in this case is a great tool to use when doing your homework.

What do existing users of their system have to say about this program?

Ask to speak with people who are in the business now.

Ask pointed questions, such as:

1) how long have they been in,

2) how long did it take to make any money

3) how much are they making now

4) how much money can you expect to have to spend to make a profit, etc.

One thing to keep in mind when going through this process is to remember that there are good actors out there who are starving! Meaning anyone can pay an actor to give you a good song and dance.

So do not take this as the only indication.

My advice is to use all of these methods we have discussed and between them then use your better judgement, or gut feeling to make the final decision on whether it is a legitimate opportunity or not.

In the end, nothing is 100% guarantee, but if you take these steps, take your time and not rush to jump into the opportunity your chances of finding a legitimate opportunity go significantly up!

Opportunities I Recommend

People ask me this question ALL the time. <b>"What business opportunity do you recommend"!</b>

Typically I tell people they need to do their own due diligence to determine that, and although there are a few very good opportunities out there recently I came across by far the most incredible opportunity I have ever seen, and man do I wish it was around when I was just starting out, it would have saved me a ton of money and time!

I beleive without a doubt it is perfect for everyone.

Ur full of it buddy, right up to your eyeballs, and down to the "scam opportunity" link you leave. You're just another affiliate scumball, you're a dime a dozen.

You don't say anything new, just things any common sense person would already know so they don't get ripped off.

I agree with pat. We make an opportunity good or bad with our own attitude most of the time. I also don't think the S word should be thrown around so lightly. This is obviously an advertorial hub promoting this guys opportunity but that does not mean its a scam. Just because people at hubpages don't like hubs that are advertisements does not automaticaly make this a scam. Everyone just do your due dilegence and check things out before you join. Type in the name of the opportunity into google along with the word scam and see if anything comes up. If it is really a scam then there will probably some talk out there on the internet that proves it is.

I was a member of the Reverse Funnel System (that's where his website is taking you) for two months at the end of 2007.  The cost for two months was $600.00.   In that time period, I was selling and still am selling GRN memberships which are legit and excellent for anyone who travels.  My first two, $1,000 sales, were made through the RFS.  I then had several tragedies occur and basically stopped marketing anything for several months.  I stopped my RFS subscription.  I made several GRN sales outside of RFS over the next few months from marketing I had done previously.

The bottom line is that the RFS does work.  It works very well if you have a huge list of people that you can funnel into the RFS system.  You have to drive a lot of traffic to get people into the funnel to pay $50 to get more information.  RFS is supposed to weed out "tire kickers".  The theory is that if you are willing to pay $50 to find out more, then at least there is some indication that you are serious enough to take a next step.  GRN is what is marketed on the other end.  GRN is not a scam.  It is a company that represents a travel club membership that has been in business for over 21 years.  So, if you funnel people through the RFS and they come out the other end after paying their $50, they will be presented with a solid business opportunity that can be sold as retail or as a business.

Put the work into it.  Find the people to get to the RFS.  Let it do the work it's supposed to do and it will work for you.  Even if you spend $300 for the monthly fee plus another $200 in advertising, you still come out ahead with a $500 commission check, plus a portion of the $50 the person paid to sign up through the RFS.

I'm not pushing RFS.  I'm not even in it right now because I'm in a downsized version of one that seems to be working well for much less money.  I do think it is a good tool.  I would use it again and although Lifestyle Mentor, the author of this hub, does come across as very salesy and the picture on the RFS page is tacky (although I wouldn't mind being on a beach sipping something right now), it is not a scam.

That's my honest opinion and as one who has been scammed plenty of times on the internet when I first started, I would never think of scamming anyone because of the hurt and damage it causes all of us.

I have a great Home based business called UltraLuster. It is a waterless car wash company and it is legitimate. I have made really good money in the last 6 months since the company started. It is a no nonsense business with twin engine compensation plans. They are always coming out with something new and they will be around for a long time. If anyone would like further details, check out www.ultraluster.com/goultraluster

That's an interesting post about scams considering that the Ty Cobb reverse funnel is also one of the biggest scams on the net too.

I also use Ultraluster as a product and a business. Its the only multilevel business that I know of that can generate income on every level. As long as you participate in some way it works. Its also the only one that the average guy can make money the same hour he becomes involved. The products are so good, so easy to use and so inexpensive that anyone can do it. It all depends on how you want to work it. Many people I know just resell at car shows or flea markets. Some focus on assisting other people in starting a small business. All most all of them will take the time to clean and detail a car, motorcycle, boat etc. The commissions (if you choose to go that rout) are real and realistic. And while you are building the residual income you can actually go out and use the products to make a living. Check them out at
