This American actor is better known as Nate Archibald from the popular television series Gossip Girl. Chace Crawford also appeared in a couple of movies including The Covenant, where he plays one of the four brothers who grew up in a family having supernatural powers. Viewers see him on the screen sporting different looks, many people take seeing Chace Crawford shirtless for granted, but a lot of us neglect the fact that this actor didn’t even want to be on television before.    Born in Lubbock, Texas, Chace’s father was a successful dermatologist while his mother was a teacher. No doubt due to his parents, he strove to involve himself in a career shaped hugely by his academics. He moved to Malibu, California, leaving high school to attend college at Pepperdine University. Crawford took up broadcast journalism, thinking it was his scholastic path to better understand his profession in life. Actually, he went over majors including business, advertising and communications. During his second year, expected career advice came from somebody least expected to say it.  Dana Crawford, his mother, not only suggested but encouraged Chase to make a practical move. This decision, lovingly pointed out, is to pursue acting. Many peers or friends that have seen Chace Crawford shirtless all agree to this move without even blinking but Dana had a more plausible reason. Chace took up a career aptitude test when he was still in high school, revealing that a career in the performing arts best suits him. Given this blessing, Crawford went on to pursue a career in this field and was immediately signed by the first talent agent to interview him.   And as millions watch the Gossip Girl, many would readily agree that a career in entertainment fits Chace Crawford. It is now hard to imagine that this actor not only wanted, but exerted effort in finding his place in life elsewhere. Television viewers who have grown so accustomed to Chace Crawford shirtless would feel alienated watching him donning a business suit, not in portrayal of a role but to wear it actually to work. It is quite amusing, since many people who have good courses and jobs desperately want to enter show business despite advice from loved ones not to. And here, we have Chace who wanted to carve a typical lifestyle, with his mother, urging him to go out and act. And as all our mothers would claim, mothers know best. In Crawford’s case, she certainly did.
